Happy National Exercise Day! We all have our 'thing". Mine is health and fitness. It's why I became a health and wellness coach. Throughout my life I have always participated in sports & fitness: Gymnastics Softball Volleyball Running Swimming Yoga Pilates Paddleboarding Hiking Weight training HIIT Pool & open water swimming It's never too late to start! I ran my 1st marathon at age 35. I tried road cycling and rode my 1st century at 48. I completed my 1st triathlon at 49. I picked up fat tire biking and cross country skiing at 50. Last year I started playing Pickleball. And just this year, I tried downhill skiing for the first time! Sports and fitness has enriched my life, gives it color, purpose & meaning. Finally, on Saturday I completed my first ever Park Run in the National Forest @RoslintonforestryCentre, tough course with a lot of hills and turns but I managed to secure the W with a good time. I decided to transition into a hybrid athlete, in March 2024. What is a hybrid athlete? "Someone proficient in multiple sports or disciplines for example - Weightlifting, Running, Boxing, Football, Cycling ect" You have to be proficient and compete in every single sport/discipline Why? I wanted to challenge myself to do something I have never done and put my body through the biggest mental & physical transition it's ever been put through. It's been a tough few months and I have nearly quit once or twice however it has been the best physical and mental change I have ever gone through. My daughter also looks at me like a superhero every time she watches me perform which is a huge factor. We all have goals, without a plan and some sort of consistency you can feel like you are hitting a brick wall. Nutrition has been the hardest by a mile to keep consistent! The next challenge is learning how to swim properly and competing which will be the hardest, I am not a bad swimmer I am just not a strong one.
