Saw some interesting data from Truckstop today that states that 78% of brokers spend significant time resolving fraud-related issues. I wanted to bring this to everyone's attention as this is one of many things that shippers might not consider when it comes to looking for freight-partners! There are so many extra costs (including time) that we take on to make sure your freight is delivered in perfect condition. If you can believe it, moving freight is not usually as simple as going from A to B. Why do trucking companies or brokers keep asking me for my target price, so they can negotiate with their carriers for the best rate? I want you to give me your best rate that you can so that you make your profits that you are looking for and needing to be sustainable. When companies ask for a target price they are on the race to the bottom, not? I always tell them " sorry I don't have time for negotiating on LTL, just give me the rate you the "carrier" need and I can award carriers based off of service and quality of work, not on price alone. Looks like the lease purchase option is heading out the door At Trucking companies. These companies that have made their fortune enslaving Truckers to Pay for equipment they will never own. I think they got this one right. Equipment will be being sold really cheap. It's a shame the good companies like Henniff have to pay the price because of the predatory companies like Supe rego and Christensen Transportation. prime.and many many more. I have been working with one of my customer for years, I was taking care of their Eastbound and Midwest with my best integrated dedicated Fleet capacity. But a month before my Poc for shipments had changed that company. But I had a thought that always, will that affect my sales? A couple of weeks before they had 2 of the shipments same lane that had to move. But I had honestly told em that I am always sending the same sort of integrated and dedicated fleet capacity for their shipments. and I don't wanna book & post it and outsource carrier. so they have got another carrier for that. Fair enough!! The same shipment pops out for today and I have my dedicated capacity have the trucks in that area. but without any knowing they covered with another carrier. But I convinced them today what happened last week & for future shipments!! Spot Vs. Contract As a truckload carrier, what type of business makes the most sense for you? We see almost all carriers participating in both of these spaces, but not everyone participates in them equally. Some carriers run 100% of their business in spot markets, some run 70% of their business on contractual lanes. A variety of factors will impact a carrier’s ability to run in the contractual space more heavily. One of the most important factors is their equipment. Carriers who are able to offer drop trailer pools to their shipper clients often have access to bidding on contractual opportunities that are reserved strictly for the drop trailer/preload business. Often shippers’ largest volume lanes and highest volume producing locations are those that engage in drop trailer pools. Trailers allow our customers to say yes to more business opportunities, and gain access to desirable contractual lane opportunities.
