Over the last 10 years, value-based care (VBC) programs have expanded rapidly. Although select programs have improved quality or reduced costs, we haven’t seen any that have managed to scale and deliver benefits across payers, providers, and patients. On several occasions this year I have pointed to the incredibly difficult situation that many hospital leaders must navigate each day as they balance the needs of patients with the understood focus on financial viability required to serve their communities. Unfortunately, those pressures are only getting worse. I believe the value-based approaches we help our customers embrace at @CareAllies are even more imperative – #valuebased care is of course not a silver bullet, but when embraced effectively it is proven to improve patient health outcomes and increase the profitability of #healthcare organizations. The government’s immediate priority for health is to tackle the record waiting lists and restore NHS performance standards, as part of the mission-led approach. Solving these issues will require new approaches, ones that embrace innovation and a new way of doing things. This is something we have already seen being done in pockets, now is the time to scale and invest in embedding it.
