This hung in my classroom for 5 years as a Professional Military Education (PME) instructor during my ALS (Airmen Leadership School) and NCOA (Non-Commissioned Officer Academy) duty: "Son, we live in a world that needs PME, and that PME has to be taught by instructors with lesson plans. Who's gunna do it? YOU? I have a greater responsibility than you can possible fathom! You weep for washouts and you curse the curriculum. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, educates Airmen (capital A). You don' want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about in parties, you want me in that classroom. You NEED me in that classroom! We use words like cognitive objectives, affective learning, summative evaluations. We use these words as a backbone of a life spent teaching something. You use them as a punch line! I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to one who rises and sleeps under this very blanket of education I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just say "Thank you" and be on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a dry erase marker and stand your post. Either way...(Fill in the blank) I know each career field had their own version of this for the tasks... What was yours? :) 😎 #USAF #nco #airmen #moviequote #mondaymotivation #thisactuallyhappened

📢 Calling all military leaders! 🎓 I’m excited to share a new video I’ve created that breaks down how I earned my degree using ONLY Military Tuition Assistance (TA)—and how your servicemembers can do the same. As leaders, we know the power of education in shaping the future of our teams. Yet many don’t realize the incredible resource TA offers. It allows our Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, and Marines to earn degrees while still serving, without dipping into their GI Bill or facing debt. This video is a step-by-step guide explaining how to: • Navigate the TA process • Balance military life and education • Overcome misconceptions and fears about using TA Whether you’re leading a team or just getting started in your own military journey, this is a resource that can motivate your people to take the next step in their education—using a benefit that’s available to them right now. 🎥 Leaders, show this to your servicemembers. Let’s encourage them to invest in their future while they serve! #MilitaryEducation #TuitionAssistance #MilitaryLeaders #GIbill #NavyTA #MilitaryBenefits #EnlistedGraduates #EducationMotivation #ServicememberSuccess #Leadership

It is official, as of May 3, 2024, the Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS) has successfully completed Milestone 2 in the CJCS’s new Outcomes Based Military Education (OBME) program. The OBME program represents a higher standard for professional military education (PME) in the U.S. and an “expansion in focus from content alone (covering statutory requirements) to content and outcomes (covering the content and demonstrating students have learned what they are supposed to learn).” Specifically, our program produces graduates who don’t just know about Joint Warfighting, but can do all the things that combatant commanders need their Joint Warfighters to do. Follow this link to read an in-depth explanation of the OBME program by Kristin Mulready-Stone in Joint Force Quarterly: “A New Form of Accountability in JPME: The Shift to Outcomes-Based Military Education” #Joint Forces Staff College, National Defense University
