Nice #HBR article on #universities as central figures in societal and environmental #innovation. No shocker, but always nice to remind oneself of the unique role that research institutions play in nudging interdisciplinary and diverse collaborations that would not happen if left to commercial interests alone. 1. We’re quite happy to have been mentioned in Harvard Business Review along with our close friends in the innovation ecosystem of DTU. In the article, our ecosystem is used as an example of how universities can establish themselves as a cradle for innovation that makes a positive impact on our common global society. It’s not an easy task to establish such an ecosystem that enables both students and researchers alike to journey out into the world of tech entrepreneurship, but with great partners, that task becomes a much more pleasant ride. Here’s to even more great tech for our society! 🥂🚀 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dusXNsFr #DTUInnovation #Tech #Innovation #Startup #DeepTech #dtudk DTU - Technical University of Denmark DTU Entrepreneurship DTU Science Park PreSeed Ventures DTU Earthbound

It takes a village... …to turn scientific breakthroughs into real world solutions to planetary and societal challenges. 🌍 🌟 And that’s exactly what the ecosystem, that we at PreSeed Ventures are part of here at DTU, are capable of. It’s not our words but the ones of this new article in Harvard Business Review. They call out the orchestration of the #DTUecosystem to intervene and support at each stage of the journey from lab to commercialisation as an example for others to model in order to become a prime innovator in society. With 81 inventions commercialized, 74 new startups launched, and 1,173 research collaborations with outside companies alone in 2021 the numbers speak for themselves 🚀🦄 – And puts the DTU - Technical University of Denmark ecosystem in a league with universities like New York University. It goes without saying that it makes us proud to be part of building such a flourishing ecosystem with strong allies like DTU Science Park, DTU Entrepreneurship, DTU Skylab, DTU Tech Transfer and DTU Earthbound. We look forward to close yet another gap in the ecosystem with our upcoming #PSVDeepTech fund. 👋Let’s continue to make tech work for people Marianne Thellersen, Mikkel Sørensen, Anders Overgaard Bjarklev, Christel Piron, Niels Korsholm, Anders Kjær, Jakob Rybak-Andersen, Marianne Hyltoft, Steen Donner, Jes Broeng, Jakob Fritz Hansen, Christopher James Lüscher, Ph.D, Thomas Klem Andersen, Simon Ulvund, Mikkel Marfelt, PhD, Solvej Karlshøj Christiansen, Jesper Hart-Hansen, Alberte Schmidt Koefoed. #Togetherwecanpunchaboveourweight #PSV #PreSeedVentures #Future #Startups #Invest #Founders #Entrepreneurship #Tech #VC #Venturecapital

"Prepare and protect" was the third session of the INNOV-8-2-CREATE Impact Accelerator Programme that took place yesterday. The session started with 2 minute pitches from students of each university: University of Galway Innovation Office, Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte (Riga Technical University), and Università degli Studi di Torino, Then, Kristina Kragujevska from the University of Turin gave an insightful presentation of Intellectual Property #IP including #patents, #trademarks, #copyright, industrial design, fields of IP and universities third mission. Each university then worked offline to review each universities' approach to IP. A total of 24 participants, amongst them researchers, PhD students and postdocs, plus innovation support staff came together to accelerate the impact of their #innovative projects. We will have a break next week but we're so excited to watch these projects grow and accelerate toward success 🚀 Learn more about the #I82C project here 👉 https://bit.ly/4d1kulq European Commission #entrepreneurship #innovation #accelerator #europeanprojects #startups #INNOV82CREATE

The DT Launch Pad project offers immense benefits for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and students. By identifying barriers and enablers, HEIs can focus resources on high-impact areas, strengthening research output. Providing state-of-the-art training and resources makes HEIs more attractive to students and researchers, fostering a culture of innovation. For students and early-stage researchers, WP2’s research will identify necessary skills and support structures. Comprehensive training programs will bridge the gap between academic knowledge and entrepreneurial skills, helping students turn ideas into successful start-ups. Connecting with industry experts and entrepreneurs will provide invaluable insights into Deep Tech commercialisation. Theory or practice: the real dilemma. (🔍Why balancing both is crucial for innovation) In my academic career, I've noticed a heavy focus on theory, with little practical application. Yet, major innovations often begin with theory before they become reality. Scientific research excites me as it often sparks innovative startups! Here's how we could bridge this gap: 🎓Leverage academic research: collaborate with universities for cutting-edge discoveries. 🔬Encourage experimentation: test theories in real-world scenarios to refine ideas. 🤝Interdisciplinary teams: combine diverse expertise for unique solutions. 💰Fund early-stage research: support from investors who value deep tech is crucial. 🚀Promote entrepreneurial thinking: embed it within academic programs to inspire innovation. Merging research with entrepreneurship can turn insights into impactful startups. How can we better integrate research into ventures? ♻️ P.S. If this resonates, share it with your network! #science #research #startup
