Key Quotes: “Listen in advance, and then on the show, listen to the question that the host is asking you.” -Mandi Graziano Look at who the listener is, because one of the things I've learned, studying business, biology, sociology, et cetera, over the years is people tend to only listen or hear the things they care about.” -Michael Ungaro “In that preparation vein, it's finding out the why. Why are you on the show? Why did they ask you to come on the show?” -Shawn P. Walchef “Having your media kit ready. So a good photo, your website, or a link to the book that you're talking about, or having those things already ready and sent to the producer so they can add them to the show notes.” -Elizabeth Doss Come join us TODAY!!! The Greg McKeown Podcast - Understanding Each Other with Parker J. Palmer The big idea to think about is your capacity to understand another person which begins with your capacity to understand yourself. Understanding another person starts with asking honest, open questions that are not meant to fix, save, correct, or advise. And you need to listen with the intent to help the other person be heard and to hear themselves. Three questions to ask yourself When was the last time I felt truly heard and understood? Who made me feel that way? How did they make me feel that way and how can I help others feel that way? In this Podcast Parker J. Palmer shares some of the things he has learned over decades and some actionable advice. By the end of this Podcast you will be better able to help people unravel their confusion and find the right way forward. https://lnkd.in/gM2KUPSt

The remit of my show, 'The Creative Condition' podcast this year has broadened. I'm a big believer that for creativity to thrive it's key to get out of comfort zones, so while still shining a light on the design/art/illustration world, my guests are chosen according to who can provide valuable insight and an interesting story. Creativity is at play in every walk of life, despite such poster forms as drawing, guitar playing, and poetry. So I search far and wide for ways to learn more about it. I'm keen to hear how any listeners of my show, or people leading their work with creativity feel about this. Do you prefer to hear from people in your discipline, or fertilise your thinking with a more diverse range of guests? In recent times, I've spoken to: Greg Chasson, a professor and clinical psychologist about perfectionism. Alistair Bruce-Ball, a football commentator about responsive creativity. Elinor Samuelsson ✨about innovation at UNICEF Prof. Carl Chinn MBE about the English working class and the arts. Athena Aktipis about apocalypse psychology and why community and a fun lens on heavy topics matters to us all. Stefan Sagmeister about optimism and long-term thinking in design and creativity. While I will never compromise this variation, I do worry that sometimes my listenership might suffer as a result, and I'd love to hear what you all think on this front! Asian-American History For Young People | Episode 109 GRAB A COPY OF Made in Asian America: A History for Young People here - https://www.rfr.bz/lnewi7j or here - https://www.rfr.bz/lnewi7k Asian American history is not made up of one single story. It’s many. And it’s a story that too often goes untold. It begins centuries before America even exists as a nation. It is connected to the histories of Western conquest and colonialism. It’s a story of migration; of people and families crossing the Pacific Ocean in search of escape, opportunity, and new beginnings. It is also the story of race and racism. Of being labeled an immigrant invasion, unfit to become citizens, and being banned, deported, and incarcerated. Of being blamed for bringing diseases into the country. And it is a story of bravery and hope. It is the story of heroes who fought for equality in the courts, on the streets, and in the schools, and who continue to fight in solidarity with others doing the same. This book is a stirring account of the ordinary people and extraordinary acts that made Asian America and the young people who are remaking America today. Our professors are truly doing the coolest things 😎 Faculty Dr. Brad Davidson, PhD, who teaches 'The Anthropology of Branding' course here in the Masters in Branding program, also co-hosts a podcast! 'Breaking the Code' spotlights two behavioral scientists sounding off on what is, and isn't, good social science, from a variety of disciplines covering new topics every episode. Their mission? Taking the BS out of Behaviorial Science. Dr. Brad's latest episode, in honor of Parkinson's awareness month (hint, hint, it's April!), discusses the approach taken on the "The Kama Sutra of Parkinson's" project, ParkinSex. ParkinSex is not only great award-winning work, but it puts into practice a lot of the themes that have been previously discussed on the podcast, conducting primary research, co-creating with communities, the shame-stigma-taboo trichotomy, and implementing inclusive design. Get ready! On Monday (Feb 26), you’ll get to hear a podcast project I’ve been working on for a long time. It’s a collaboration with the guys at Behavioral Grooves, and we’re excited to release it into the world. “Behavioral Economics” is an approach to understanding how people make lots of decisions in biased, irrational ways. Sounds obvious now, but it was a long-running battle to convince economists and psychologists that it was a worthwhile area of research. But the battle was won, and now the insights from behavioral economics set the agendas for businesses and governments around the world. How did we get here? And where are we going next? We talked to a bunch of movers and shakers in the field to tell their story and showcase what careful social science research can do. It’s a five-part podcast series, and all five episodes drop on Monday! Subscribe to my podcast, Opinion Science [https://lnkd.in/e2gbvtW], to get it all. (While you’re at it, also subscribe to Behavioral Grooves [https://lnkd.in/ganBJcip releasing the series on their feed, too.) Listen to the trailer! https://lnkd.in/gnWfcBmU For more info, head to https://lnkd.in/gwUsJk9e #podcast #behavioralscience #behavioraleconomics #psychology Tim Houlihan Kurt Nelson, PhD
