California Partnership for Safe Communities (CPSC)’s Post

Despite historic public and private investments in the growing field of evidence-based methods, relatively few cities have reduced community violence at the city level and sustained those reductions across leadership transitions. With support from The Pew Charitable Trusts and in partnership with field experts, California Partnership for Safe Communities (CPSC) began working in 2022 to identify the “key capacities” associated with the ability of cities to achieve and sustain reductions in community violence. The findings have significant implications for public policy and how we take on violence in cities.
