I live in Oregon and have access to state PAID family & medical leave. Why do I care about offering paid family & medical leave nationwide? I am a Human Resources Specialist for an Oregon-based company. Most (but not all) of our employees live in Oregon and Washington – 2 of the approximately 13 states that offer paid leave to eligible employees. (“Approximately” because this number will continue to grow, thank goodness!) In addition to company benefits, employees in Oregon and Washington have access to not only federal unpaid protected leave, but PAID leave through their respective states. Employees outside of states with paid leave are left to scrape together any saved up earned leave and other company benefits to have income during this time. *Note: Our company is generous with these benefits, thank goodness, but not all companies are. In the middle of a major life event (illness, surgery, caring for a loved one, welcoming a new child into the home, etc.), the last thing I want anyone to have to worry about is whether or not they can afford the rent/mortgage/groceries that month. That’s why I advocate for Paid Leave for ALL. Not just employees in 13/50 states. To learn more about Paid Leave for All, visit https://lnkd.in/gUg5V9se. The paid family leave train continues to gain steam. Within the last three years MA, CT, OR, and CO mandated that employers provide paid family leave for their employees. In 2026 legislation will go into effect for MD, DE, MN, and ME. Another 20+ states have bills in motion. This is an impactful wave of regulation for Americans — and extraordinarily complex for brokers and employers to keep track of. With paid leave supported on ThreeFlow, we’re excited to streamline the process of quickly and accurately placing coverage in states with mandated paid leave. Check out our latest blog (including a downloadable one-pager) for a guide on state-paid leave requirements in the private market here: https://lnkd.in/d2F3a6Rt

It's been about two weeks since we launched the most recent hit of our Parents Push Harder campaign --- it's a call out to our lawmakers to pass paid leave. As of today, 4,200 people in 48 states have written letters to their reps to pass paid leave for all. I think we can get to 5,000 by the end of the week. So if you're reading this: 1. Go here: www.parentspushharder.com and send the pre-populated letter to your rep --- one person already got a response from her lawmaker saying he "understand(s) the desire for employees to have paid leave benefits it is important to note that under federal law, employees are already guaranteed unpaid leave opportunities" and how the "1993, the Family and Medical Leave Act was enacted to help employees achieve a proper balance between work and family life." So this is WHAT we are up against!! 2. Share the link with your community either here on Linked In or via text or e-mail or all of the above. 3. If you know someone or are someone from Mississippi or Alaska sign it or send it to them to sign, because we want all 50 states and no one from either of those states has written their rep yet. cc Chamber of Mothers Paid Leave for All Moms First
