Check out this wonderful profile of one of CalWild’s hardest-working team members, Linda! Linda’s dedication to protecting California’s wild places is truly inspiring. As she puts it, “I stay motivated and inspired because I genuinely care about the places I work to protect—and by the energy of others who are passionate about conservation, recreation, and preserving our way of life.” Her passion for protecting our ecosystems and ensuring clean air and water for future generations is at the heart of everything she does. We’re so grateful for Linda’s work for CalWild, for California, and for all of us. Check out the wonderful article to learn more about Linda and the impact she’s making: https://lnkd.in/guAJVwW8

Exciting news from our partner, Kawartha Land Trust (KLT). A component of their partnership with the Greenbelt Foundation will include 'work with private landowners to thin monoculture stands of trees to encourage the growth of native plant species in the understory and contribute to the diversification of plant and tree species in these areas, improving biodiversity.' Elliott Groen, Sustainable Forestry Coordinator with OWA and KLT (shared position) is leading several components of this important project. May is American Wetlands Month! Did you know? Texas is home to an impressive 3.9 million acres of wetlands, making it the state with the 5th largest wetland acreage in the US. These precious natural habitats offer numerous benefits for all Texans: •Wetlands serve as natural water filters, purifying water by removing pollutants and sediments, which helps maintain clean and safe water sources for everyone. •They help control water flow by absorbing excess water during heavy rainfall, thereby reducing the risk of flooding in nearby areas. •Wetlands provide essential habitats for diverse plant and animal species, including many rare or endangered ones. By caring for our wetlands, we invest in a sustainable future for Texas and beyond. Learn more about how you can contribute to protecting our wetlands: https://lnkd.in/gM29CSed 💧🌾
