🗓️ Today is the biannual meeting of the ProCanAid consortium, which takes place in Zaragoza, Spain. As the central coordinator, we are leading the project together with our partners from the Medical Research Institute La Fe (IIS La Fe) and Universidad de Zaragoza, who are committed to driving a transformative change in this field.   A major milestone of this project is the development of a new model for automatic segmentation of neurovascular bundles. ICTER is becoming ICTER CoE! The International Centre for Translational Eye Research (ICTER) is one of the winners of the prestigious "Teaming for Excellence" in the European Commission's Horizon Europe programme. Thanks to the funding of 15 million euros, a Centre of Excellence (ICTER CoE) will be established, operating at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences and headed by Prof. Maciej Wojtkowski. The ICTER Centre of Excellence's goals, i.e. creating modern ophthalmic diagnostic tools to combat eye diseases affecting over 250 million people worldwide, will remain the same, but will now be pursued on an incomparably larger scale. Highlights from the NAFEM France Biomedical Session Our President and Secretary General Thierry Marchal alongside Daniel Fougeres (Micado) had the honour to co-chair a series of six presentations during the NAFEM France Biomedical Session The session brought together exceptional speakers from academia (Badr Kaoui, Tévy Julie Pigeon, Kenza Oussalah), industry (Philippe Favre, Julien Sigüenza), and a regulatory expert (Jean-Matthieu Prot). Professor Irene Vignon-Clementel opened the event with an outstanding keynote, emphasising the growing role of in silico methods, not only in industry but also in clinical applications. She nicely describes the central role of the EDITH CSA project. A lively panel discussion followed, featuring Jean-Matthieu Prot, Philippe Favre, Yanneck Suchier, and Julien Sigüenza. Key insights highlighted a strong appetite for wider adoption of simulation technologies, tempered by ongoing trust challenges. To bridge this gap, participants suggested increased sharing of regulatory submissions involving modelling and simulation, the development of additional standards, and enhanced dialogue among stakeholders.
