In a groundbreaking effort to combat #ClimateChange, the University of Northampton has launched a free #Carbon calculator tailored for businesses and charities in the county as part of its ongoing Towards A Net Zero (TANZ) #Northants project 🍃 Working in collaboration with West Northants Council and The Sustainable Business Alliance, #UON developed the Carbon Calculator with funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as user friendly-tool for businesses and charities to measure emissions and highlight the necessary step to reach Net-Zero on their operations. Keeping track of its carbon footprint can cost a business with up to 50 employees £10,000 a year, making it a significant financial burden for many small and medium-sized business which may not be able afford it. As leaders, it's important to set clear ESG objectives. Environmental, Social, and Governance goals aren't just about ticking boxes—they guide our decisions and actions, ensuring we make a positive impact on our communities and the environment. Clear objectives help us stay focussed and measure progress. Here's a practical tip: Start small. Identify one area where you can make a difference, like reducing waste or supporting local charities. Set a specific, actionable goal, and build from there. Remember, it's about progress, not perfection. What's one small step you've taken towards setting clear ESG objectives in your business? #ESG #ESGBenchmarking #EnvironmentSocialGovernance #BusinessStrategy #SME

“Don’t wait for all the answers before starting. We don’t have time 🌍 💦” - this is one of if not THE most critical attitudes that we all need to celebrate within sustainability and climate action. (Natalie Campbell MBE obviously this also made me think of you!) I totally understand how overwhelming the sheer volume of reporting and regulatory standards for companies is (not to mention the complicated administration of such) and how that has a significant impact on the speed of delivering solutions. These standards are vital to the developing discourse, but I doff my cap to any company that takes the gutsy decision to press ahead knowing they might not get everything right. Doing it regardless. Believing that action doesn’t have to wait, that we can all generate considerable impacts and outcomes if we just make that decision: to act now, and in collaboration. As a financial institution that finds itself within an inch of counting half the entire UK population as its customers, Lloyds Banking Group is in an incredibly unique position to have an almost unfathomably positive impact on the future direction of climate action. Which is why I was genuinely astounded at last year’s launch of their Climate & Nature 2030 goals - this is literally the game-changing, spearheading attitude we need the private sector to take…but I honestly hadn’t expected a major bank to make such a bold move to commit to water neutrality within these goals. Absolute kudos to the hundreds upon hundreds of staff I know are working day-in day-out to push the group’s sustainability agenda into new territory, and to no doubt inspire similar bold action being taken within the wider financial services industry. Loved the flexing between the granular and the grand during our discussion Mike Stitt and Jack 💙💚
Attended a really insightful event hosted by Thames21 to hear about the incredible work the charity are doing to clean up the Thames and deliver social water projects. Really inspiring listening to the volunteers talk about the work they do and the positive impact it has on cleaning our rivers and waterways, improving biodiversity and creating spaces that bring communities together. At Lloyds Banking Group we have pledged to become water neutral by 2030. How do we get to the neautrality bit? Once we have exhausted our own water efficiency across our properties. We are learning everything we can about what water offset might mean and how we can help other organisations do the same, whilst positively impacting the communities we serve. Set the ambition, then ask the questions. Don’t wait for all the answers before stating. We don’t have time 🌍 💦 Emma Johnson Emma Paterson Jack Condon Simon Beckwith Gillian Brown Cheryl Jones Sarah Morrison Daniel Coakley Joanne Beecroft
