On Fuel Poverty Day, we come together to highlight an issue affecting millions of people across the UK & the rest of the world - Fuel Poverty. Where many households struggle to keep their homes warm and their energy bills affordable. It’s a crisis that impacts all vulnerable groups. On the eve of National Energy Action (NEA) Fuel Poverty Awareness Day tomorrow (Wednesday 27 November), new exclusive data comes from the University of Salford’s full-sized test house. Heating your home to 18°C rather than the potentially health-threatening 16°C would cost 66p more per day. From January 6.1 million UK households will be in fuel poverty, according to National Energy Action. Information like this needs to be shared far and wide as it will benefit everyone. Recent years have seen the assistance we give with energy increase significantly due to the energy crisis and persistence of energy poverty. In 2021, we provided €4.2 million in support to households struggling with energy costs, this increased to €7.1 million in 2022. This level of support is reflected in our requests for assistance: between 2021 and the end of 2023, calls for help with energy have increased by 68%. #inclusivebudget #endpoverty #budget2025

🔍 Interesting Update on Energy Poverty in Bridgewater! 🔍 Check out report from Dr. Riva's research team on energy poverty in Bridgewater. This study, conducted with local community organizations, provides valuable perspectives on the challenges faced by households dealing with energy poverty and housing insecurity. The report reveals some striking statistics: Over 30% of households in Atlantic Canada face energy poverty, and in Bridgewater, 38% of households reported spending more than 10% of their income on energy.
