What did you most enjoy about school? Tadala enjoys school because… 🥰 She interacts with friends ✏️ She’s able to read and write 💫 A Teacher Mentor helps her to set goals Together with Education Above All Foundation's Educate A Child programme, we're supporting primary school students, like Tadala, at the highest risk of dropping out of education in rural Malawi. We’re providing additional academic and psycho-social support for thousands of children across nine rural districts — including through trained Teacher Mentors and Learner Guides (peer mentors) — ensuring they can continue to learn and succeed with access to quality primary education.

Peer mentors with lived experience are transforming support systems for primary school students. 💜 As Learner Guide, Princess, says "We act as role models because we come from the same community as our learners. We know the challenges they are facing very well." This is just one of the ways we're supporting girls in Malawi to thrive in school, through our partnership with Education Above All Foundation's Educate A Child programme. 📌 Prioritise Education & Redefine it🤔 This part of the world still lacks prioritization of education, a crucial aspect that might not change unless redefined in Africa. The prevailing mindset among many is focused more on profits than the actual impact of teaching. It is imperative for school owners to recognize the significance of the early childhood stage, as it serves as a critical formative period that demands careful attention. #Education #Africa #EarlyChildhoodEducation

Having studied, practiced, and taught Early Childhood Education in Nigeria and America, as a nation, I wish we could get Early Childhood Education right. Leaving preschool entirely in the hands of the private sector will make it a profit-making entity rather than a foundation stage for nation-building. #earlychildhoodeducation

Encouraging children to read can be incredibly rewarding, and there are many ways to make it engaging: 1. Start With Their Interests: Find books on topics that spark their curiosity, whether it’s animals, space, superheroes, or mysteries. When they’re interested in the topic, they’re more likely to read. 2. Create a Reading-Friendly Environment: Make a cozy reading nook with good lighting and a variety of books within reach. Comfortable seating and a quiet space can make reading feel special. 3. Set an Example: Let them see you reading, and talk about the books you enjoy. When children see adults engaged in reading, they’re more likely to pick it up themselves. 4. Make Reading Part of the Routine: Set aside time daily for reading, whether it’s a bedtime story, after-school reading, or weekend trips to the library. 5. Interactive Reading: Encourage children to predict what happens next, ask questions about the story, and share their thoughts. This engages them more deeply and builds comprehension. 6. Praise and Reward: Celebrate their reading milestones, like finishing a book or reading for a set number of days. Small rewards can help build a positive association with reading. 7. Access to Books: Bring in a variety of books, from comics to novels, so they have choices. Visiting the library or bookstore and letting them choose can also give them a sense of ownership over their reading. When children see reading as enjoyable rather than a task, they’re much more likely to make it a habit.

Classrooms are inherently busy places. While some students thrive in these environments, many become distracted or lose their focus on the assignment. Tutoring can address these challenges. No child in a classroom learns exactly the same, and the most basic solution to meeting student goals and objectives is to provide individualized instruction. One on one interactions can help any student. Basic education in South Africa is facing a well-documented crisis with poor educational outcomes, rising illiteracy rates, four out of five teachers in public schools who lack the content knowledge and pedagogical skills to teach their subjects, and a predicated shortage of teachers in years to come. I strive to overcome this.

The most important aspect of early childhood education is its reflection of the gifts and abilities that young children bring to the learning environment. Children's experiences are the foundation for early conceptual knowledge, supporting more complex learning in later grades. It is important to incorporate the traditions, norms, and indigenous ways children encounter daily in their early care and education. Early Childhood Education Ethiopia advocates for the inclusion of local, community, and indigenous curricular activities in children's daily instruction. #earlyeducationethiopia #indigenousearlyeducation #assetbasedinstruction

I love her words so much. Age is but a number that somehow ended up pre-conditioned to our dreams. Just adding it to a stack of social limitations. (That need to abolished, but that's just my opinion. 🙃) My question to you is: How hungry are you to CREATE Freedom? #heartspacefocused #peoplegrowpeople #newbeginnings #copywritinglifestyle
You can go back to college at 31. You can adopt a child at the age of 39. You can go back to nursing school at 42 after raising your kids. You can learn how to teach your first online course at the age of 48. You can reinvent yourself again at the age of 55 (I’m talking to myself here). You can get married at 63. You can move to Cambodia and teach English to elementary school students at the age of 69 (that’s what my mother-in-law Judie did). Life doesn’t end at 30, so STOP acting like it does! Tell me something you’re proud of that you did AFTER you turned 30 in the comments! 👇 #melrobbins #motivation #reinventyourself
