Quite rightly, #Bournemouth #parents told this #academy chain to bog off 🤨 And quite rightly, the academy chain backed down. But I want to know exactly what made the academy leaders think it was ok to issue such an edict in the first place..? 🤔 This stuff really matters for our families because many kids, especially younger #children and those with #specialneeds, can find it really hard to describe feelings in their bodies; poor interoception or communication difficulties mean they are often not able to tell anyone, even when they are seriously ill or in a great deal of pain. Enforced attendance, even when unwell, also takes away a parent’s fundamental right to decide on what is best for their own #child. It’s utterly unacceptable, and NOT what we sign up for when we agree to enrol our kids in school! The role a teacher plays as not only an educator, but a mentor, a friend, a confidant, and a trusted adult is so critical to the success of students at our programs. Teachers drive the change we can see from students in their education, which directly impacts their overall life. Here are some things to think about when it comes to the education kids are receiving: 🎓Education is one of the main keys to the success for kids. Especially underprivileged kids who often end up as students in our programs. 🎒Education is one of the places where students can feel rewarded, see achievements, and envision success in their future, which is critical for their long term goals. 🏫Education produces hope, which is a powerful feeling. This teachers appreciation week, we want to encourage people everywhere to say thank you to their teacher friends, family, and acquaintances and help advocate for education professionals everywhere.
