The fundamental questions when buying furniture online: 1️⃣ Will it look right? 2️⃣ Will it fit? Historically, purchasing without knowing the answers was a risk you had to take….with Augmented Reality(AR) those days are over. E-commerce with AR unlocks enhanced buyer confidence, making consumers more likely to buy, and less likely to return. It really is the obvious future for online retail. Like Kevin Quigley, I think you've missed the fundamental question: 3️⃣ Will it feel right? ie, is it comfortable, is it sturdy, etc.
Love this, James. I’m to rearrange and plan where to put new furniture at the moment, this would be so helpful. I could then ask AI how an interior designer would organise my place for optimal feng shui 😂
Absolutely! AR is revolutionizing online furniture shopping! 🛋️✨ It lets us see how pieces will look and fit in our space, boosting confidence in buying decisions. Do you know of any big online marketplaces already using AR?

7moFundamental question when buying furniture is, is it comfortable, is the touch and feel what I want. Don’t misunderstand me, these AR tools are helpful, and we use them for design purposes as well as presentation, but the scenario depicted isn’t a classic “will it fit”. That would be a typical small living room/dining room/bedroom where you can’t actually use a lot of these tools as the floorspace isn’t clear. I think the big ticket items are still likely to remain something most buyers want to purchase after seeing the goods. Take the IKEA app for example. Its great for shortlisting but in store visits seal the deal. It is the essential issue with the retail vs online option. For example in the bathroom sector consumers will often visit a showroom to look at the physical product…sit on it, slide the drawers in and out, feel the quality (or not). Then they go and purchase the same product for slightly less online. It’s a real problem, frankly not helped by some consumer legislation.
