Some of the dangers to school safety are more direct than others. But there is one quiet menace, that is always overlooked: the gas cylinders inside the schools. Being in wide use in Science Laboratories for conducting experiments and in Cafeterias for cooking purposes, gas cylinders may pose serious health and safety hazards, if their handling is not properly taken care of. The problem has become quite urgent in view of recent incidents of gas leaks in schools and health displacements among children. #SchoolSafety #RiskManagement #HiddenHazards #SafetyAwareness #GasCylinderSafety #StudentSafety #EducationSafety #HazardPrevention #SafetyInSchools #FireRiskManagement #SchoolRiskAssessment #SafetyCulture

Reason Why Education is important? Using water to extinguish an electrical fire is extremely dangerous, as water conducts electricity and can lead to severe electric shocks or worsen the fire. Pls Do Not Use Water. Water conducts electricity and can spread the fire or cause electrocution. Use an ABC Dry Powder or Co2 Type Fire Extinguisher. If the fire is out of control, evacuate everyone from the area and call emergency services 999. Stay Safe...

Despite a shortage of fire technicians industry wide, due to low enrolment at BCIT, here is a serious heads up that the majority of the Fire classes are in danger of being cancelled for the January to March 2025 session as they are under-enrolled. Minimum required number of students in the classes is 9 and we currently have only 6 in each of the following classes: Fire 1050 – Electrical for Life Safety Fire 2080 – Fire Sprinklers Fire 2077 – Emergency Lights Fire 2084 – Fire Alarm If you wish to take these this term, you only have Friday, January 3rd to register. If they are not filled up by 1 p.m. Friday, the admin people have said they will start sending cancellation notices on the above courses. If you or any other technicians you know wish to take these this term, register before 1 p.m. Friday. Otherwise they will not be run again until April or September 2025. (picture, so you'll at least look)

🤔 Why Fire Door Maintenance is Critical for Student Safety 🤔 Ensuring the safety of students and staff in educational facilities is non-negotiable. One key element often overlooked? Fire doors. Here's why regular fire door maintenance is essential: 🔥 The Role of Fire Doors Fire doors act as life-saving barriers during emergencies, containing fire and smoke to specific areas. They provide precious time for safe evacuation, protecting lives when every second counts. 🚪 Common Issues That Compromise Safety Over time, fire doors can deteriorate, reducing their effectiveness. Common problems include: Faulty hinges that prevent proper closure. Broken or non-functional self-closing mechanisms. Worn seals that allow smoke to pass through. These seemingly small issues can significantly impact the door's ability to contain fire and smoke in an emergency. 🔍 The Importance of Regular Inspections Routine fire door inspections ensure that: Hinges are functional and secure. Self-closing mechanisms operate effectively. Seals remain intact and smoke-proof. Timely inspections identify potential problems early, preventing major safety risks and ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations. 📅 Take Action Today Don't wait until it’s too late. Ensure your fire doors are up to code and ready for any emergency. Protect the lives of students and staff in your care. 👉 Schedule your fire door inspection today! #FireSafety #StudentSafety #FireDoors #Compliance #FireRiskManagement Cara Mills

Public Safety Alert It is vital to ensure the safe placement of electric generators to prevent tragic incidents like the recent one we recorded in Portharcourt where three individuals lost their lives due to generator fumes. Here are some key points to remember: 1. Generators emit dangerous carbon monoxide gas, which is colorless and odorless. It can be lethal if inhaled in high concentrations. 2. Position generators far away from any living spaces, including windows, doors, and vents. This distance helps prevent the accumulation of carbon monoxide inside your dwelling. 3. Ensure proper ventilation by keeping generator exhaust pointed away from buildings and away from areas where people gather. 4. Install carbon monoxide detectors in living areas such as bedrooms, living rooms, and hallways. These detectors can alert you to the presence of carbon monoxide and provide early warning signs. 5. Regularly service and maintain your generator according to the manufacturer's instructions. This includes checking and cleaning the exhaust system, fuel lines, and filters. Your safety and the safety of those around you should always be a top priority. By following these guidelines, we can prevent accidents, protect lives, and promote a safe environment. CP Tunde Disu. Commissioner of Police Rivers State.

🙏 Thank you letsrecycle.com for the opportunity to talk about Fire Prevention and Mitigation Plans at today's Fire Prevention and Control Conference. Listening to the other speakers, there were some key takeaways that I will be sure to consider further: 🔋Lithium-iom batteries are a crucial part of Net-Zero and are here to stay, but, their increasing presence in the waste stream is concerning given the fire risk they pose. 📈 The UK ban on single-use vapes I think is a positive one, but we must prepare for illegal vapes entering the market post-ban. 📢 Fire prevention will always be preferable, for example through educational campaigns to prevent batteries appearing in mixed waste streams. 🧯 Nevertheless, operators should be prepared for Lithium-ion battery fires at their waste sites, and should look to adopt specific firefighting strategies and equipment. **"Raising Awareness on Electrical Fire Safety in Public Spaces"** In a recent video, a transformer fire caused by a short circuit in a public street area sheds light on the often underestimated risks of electrical fires and the importance of knowing how to respond to such emergencies. 🔥 **Key Safety Guidelines for the Public:** 1️⃣ Approach an electrical fire only if properly trained and equipped, as the mix of electricity and water can have fatal consequences if the power source remains active. 2️⃣ Promptly notify your local electrical utility company or emergency services. 3️⃣ Refrain from using water or conductive materials near live electrical devices; opt for suitable extinguishers like CO2 or dry powder when accessible. 4️⃣ Maintain a safe distance and caution others to steer clear of the affected area. 💡 **Importance of Awareness:** A solid grasp of electrical safety measures can avert further harm and safeguard lives. Public education plays a pivotal role in effectively managing such incidents. It is imperative for governments and communities to advocate safety training and ensure the availability of firefighting resources in high-risk zones. Let's collaborate towards creating a secure environment for all. Share this post to extend the message of caution! #ElectricalSafety #PublicAwareness #TransformerFire #SafetyFirst
