On this #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation, we remember the victims and honour the survivors of residential schools. We acknowledge the profound impact this system has had on Indigenous Peoples. Today is a moment to learn, reflect and work toward reconciliation. Did you know that in 2023, the share of management positions held by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis slipped to 2.4% from 2.7% a year earlier? This is less than half the Coalition's 5% target for management positions. Building a more inclusive Canada means ensuring that Indigenous Peoples are equal partners at the table in developing better policies. #NDTR #EveryChildMatters

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. Recognizing this day is one way to acknowledge the genocide enacted through residential schools and to honour the children who never returned home, as well as the residential school survivors, their families, and communities. This is a day for reflecting on the past and committing to the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and engaging in dialogue, education, and meaningful change. Our staff will be listening and learning together as one small action toward reconciliation. Through even the smallest of steps like this, we hope to better understand the impacts of colonization, support reconciliation and foster a more inclusive, equitable Canada. #NDTR #EveryChildMatters #TruthAndReconciliation

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour the resilience and strength of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. Today, we reflect on the painful legacy of residential schools and the ongoing impacts of colonialism, acknowledging the truth of this history while reaffirming our commitment to reconciliation. As public servants, it is our responsibility to listen, learn, and take meaningful action in support of Indigenous communities. Reconciliation is not a destination but a continuous journey—one that calls for respect, understanding, and partnership. Let us stand together, not only today but every day, in fostering a future rooted in healing, equity, and respect for all Indigenous Peoples. #NDTR #EveryChildMatters #Reconciliation

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 is an opportunity to listen, deepen our understanding, and work together with compassion for a stronger future for everyone. Today, we join in celebrating the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences, and histories of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. It is also an opportunity to review the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s 94 Calls to Action. These calls to action aim to redress the legacy of residential schools and advance the process of Canadian reconciliation: https://lnkd.in/gkmKKFr Note: Today can be hopeful, and hard. If you are struggling as a former residential school student or family member, the national residential school crisis line at 1-866-925-4419 offers 24-hour crisis support. Indigenous peoples across Canada can also access the Hope for Wellness Help Line at 1-855-242-3310 or hopeforwellness.ca for counselling and crisis intervention. Today in Canada we reflect and mourn the damage caused to First Nation’s communities. Residential schools are a tragic example on how imposing a culture over another can have devastating effects. We need mutual cultural understanding and collaboration. There is still a very long journey to achieve reconciliation with our First Nation’s communities, but reflecting on our past actions is a start.
