Today I went to the TNO-ESI Symposium. Just as last year, I really liked the presentations. Some things are immediately usable, some thing will probably pop up in my head in a relevant situation months or years from now. Some talks have given some great insights into failures, or at least difficulties encountered, and that openness was great to hear. Content, no sales pitch! One of the highlights was the opening academic keynote by Mieke van der Bijl-Brouwer. Some very nice insights on integrating technical & social systems. Here's my graphical summary (with QR codes for background info)! *Edit:* In the mobile view it's quite easy to zoom in and out of the picture. On a desktop, it's easier to right-click on it and choose "open picture in new tab". Now you can scroll and zoom more easily!

Please #share If you’re new to presenting a paper at a conference, here are some hints 👇. Well, Lancaster University did a fantastic job at breaking these points down. 1. Structure your paper carefully 2. Don’t try to say too much 3. Eye contact with audience is important 4. Rehearse your paper in front of a friend/colleague 5. Prepare for the room 6. Make backup plans in case TECH ‘fails’ 7. Don’t worry about the size of the audience! 8. Don’t be too hard on yourself 9. Expect questions 10. Enjoy the conference paper ✅ See the points well elucidated here: https://lnkd.in/eBsH48k4 #conference #presentation #researchpaper #confidence #preparation #2024
