One major challenge in treating homeless individuals is the urgent need for accessible healthcare, which is often lacking. As a result, they frequently receive medical attention only when their conditions or injuries become critical. In this clip from our recent episode, "Why Homelessness is a Public Health Crisis," John Driscoll explains how the lack of accessible care for the homeless leads to worse health outcomes and puts a significant strain on the healthcare system. #healthcarepodcast #healthcare #homelessness #homeless #publicservices #supremecourt #supremecourtdecision

This year, 26,200 people accessed support from Adult Social Services in Norfolk - a 30% increase compared to five years ago. With 25% of Norfolk’s residents aged over 65 (compared to the national average of 19%) and more than 25,000 people employed in the care sector, the need for robust, forward-thinking support systems has never been greater. Our goal is clear: to help more people stay healthy and independent for longer while ensuring that the right support is available when it’s needed most. #AmbitiousforNorfolk #NCCbethedifference

Caregiving for a loved one is among the most demanding, challenging, and rewarding human activities. Although children are commonly thought of as the recipients of care – rather than the givers – children all over the world participate actively in caregiving every day. The US does yet not have formal policies or support systems in place for these young people as we do for adult caregivers. Furthermore, schools do not typically identify or provide support for Caregiving Youth, which puts them at risk for academic, social, and emotional challenges. In the UK, the rights of “young carers” are recognized and upheld by national governments, caregiving advocacy groups, health care services, and schools. The United States needs to do the same. #CaregivingYouth #YoungCaregivers #KidsAreCaregiversToo #YoungCarers *** Image Credit CNN Top Ten Heroes 2012.

As social enterprises delivering NHS Services, reducing health inequalities is a key objective for many of our UHUK members. The great work done by the Salford Primary Care Together (SPCT) team on their Homeless Inclusion Service has been highlighted in the MIMS Learning platform with a module on tackling health inequalities through inclusion: homelessness. Well done to the team, and thanks to urgent care physician Dr Ivan Koay for collaborating with SPCT and using their SPCT model in this module outlining the principles of inclusion health. #UHUK #SocialEnterprise #healthinequalities https://lnkd.in/edVFAV75

Government SCRAPS long-awaited cap on social care costs to help tackle spending 'black hole' Chancellor Rachel Reeves cancelled the policy, which would have set an £86,000 cap on personal care costs, in order to save £1.1bn by the end of 2025-26 With care fees at £1,500 per WEEK, families could see Estates reduced to nothing. Failing to plan or engage professionals is a key factor in what happens at that critical time. Do you have a plan in place? #care #inheritance #probate
