Today, I had the honor of presenting our #PRESIDE_biomarker_study, "Liquid Biopsy in Progressing Prostate Cancer Patients Starting Docetaxel with or Without Enzalutamide: A Biomarker Study of the PRESIDE Phase 3b Trial," in an oral communication at the Sociedad Española de Oncología Médica (SEOM) Congress 2024. 🧬🔬 This research, conducted during my PhD as an international collaboration between Universidad Complutense de Madrid and UCL Cancer Institute, London, highlights the importance of liquid biopsies in understanding treatment responses in patients with advanced #prostate_cancer. I am grateful for the opportunity to share these findings, which have the potential to improve patient care and treatment strategies. A special thank you to Sociedad Española de Oncología Médica (SEOM) for awarding me a 2-year research grant in translational research, which made this work possible, and for selecting our study for an oral presentation. This comprehensive program spanned three insightful days, each focused on a crucial aspect of oncology: 🔬 Day 1: Introduction to Molecular Oncology and Cancer Genetics 🔬 Day 2: Molecular Basis of Cancer Development and Progression 🔬 Day 3: Molecular Diagnostics and Precision Medicine The course was led by the esteemed Dr. Mustak Ibn Ayub and Jabed Iqbal MD, PhD, whose expertise and insights were truly invaluable. Improving the quality and accessibility of #CancerTreatments is essential. Today, we’re highlighting the project “𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆” which plays an important role in the field of #RadiationTherapy. The project focuses on enhancing proton radiotherapy through robust beam angle and intensity modulation optimization methodologies. 🎯 These improvements aim to mitigate uncertainties inherent in PR, including anatomic variations and uncertainties in relative biological effectiveness. 👉 By reducing uncertainties, the project seeks to achieve scalable, reliable, fast and cost-effective treatment planning solutions. These advancements have significant potential benefits for cancer patients. 💪 Tailoring radiation treatments to individual patients can potentially increase cure rates or reduce severe radiation-induced side effects. MIT Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research spans all stages of the research pipeline—from bench to bedside. Their researchers ask fundamental questions about basic biological processes and invent new technologies to address critical cancer challenges. Part of that research is done by scientists in the Convergence Scholars Program (CSP). These postdocs understand a broad range of disciplinary approaches, are able to ask creative questions, and are trained to answer those questions with diverse tools.
