The new Mac mini with M4 Pro is set to become Apple's fastest desktop Mac, surpassing the M2 Ultra performance of Mac Studio and Mac Pro. Geekbench scores reveal impressive results, with single-core scores reaching 3,700 and multi-core scores hitting 22,000, outperforming the previous multi-core champion, M2 Ultra. This significant boost is attributed to the M4 Pro's enhanced design, featuring 10 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, unlike its predecessor, the M3 Pro, which had 6 performance and 6 efficiency cores. As a result, the M4 Pro delivers: - 20% faster single-core performance - 45% faster multi-core performance compared to the M3 Pro. In comparison to other Mac models: - M4 Pro Mac mini: 22,094 multi-core score - Mac Studio with M2 Ultra: 21,351 multi-core score - 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro: 15,282 multi-core score. The Mac mini with M4 Pro is available for pre-order and launches worldwide on November 8, starting at $1,599. Unlike prior M-series chips, M4 upgrades are coming to the full lineup of Mac products. From the MacBook Air to the MacBook Pro and Mac Studio, here’s when to expect all of Apple’s new M4 Macs to release. These three Mac models, per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, are all set for M4 updates this fall. They’ll likely be introduced at an October event. All existing MacBook Pro models will receive the M4 chip. Like last year’s M3 releases, expect to see a more affordable 14-inch with the standard M4. New Apple Mac mini design changes Apple to do away with USB-A ports on upcoming M4-powered Mac mini USB-A ports will soon disappear in Apple Mac Mini and will make way for USB-C ports. Reports also hint at a revamped design, making it the slimmest Mac mini. Currently Apple’s cheapest Mac, it has been a while since Apple updated the industrial design of the Mac mini. The next iteration of the Mac mini, which is scheduled to launch in October 2024, is reported to include five USB-C ports. It will also house a full-sized HDMI port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and an ethernet port. The Crushing Weight of the iPad Pro's Price There’s a lot of buzz about the very polarizing ad for the new M4 iPad. Someone called it "the perfect metaphor for what’s happening to the creative artists and humanities". I think the ad has served its purpose - getting people talking. 😉 My real problem - what’s the market for the new M4 iPad Pro? The 13" 512GB SSD Model costs $1499. Plus another $300 for the Magic Keyboard. That’s $1799. And you get the 14” MacBook Pro for $1799 (the 16 GB version). Something with vastly superior capabilities and a better OS. Or you can save $100 with the 15.3” MacBook Air at $1699 (16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) - which again, i would argue is a better chice. Sure, I can understand some really niche use cases for that touch screen (don’t forget to add $129 for April Pencil pro!), but most others (and me) should be rather happy with the Mac. Dear Apple, When will you release M4 MacBook Pro (my 2017 Intel MBP is no longer supported for OS updates due to not being Apple Silicon) and M4 Ultra Mac Studio? I really considered getting the new iPad Pro but given I will be obtaining Vision Pro in a couple of weeks, I can't see any need for the iPad anymore (as most of the situations I use my existing iPad Pro for, I will be switching to Vision Pro). I have the Mac Studio M1 Ultra which I love, but would really like to upgrade to M4 Ultra for the AI benefits and extra RAM options - and I don't want to get a new MacBook Pro based on old architecture - so if you want more money off me this year, you need to release the M4 to other product platforms already... please ;) #apple #technology #ai #genai

Once upon a time, having a #Windows laptop with all-day battery life was a dream. The #ARM race has finally come to an end. #Xelite is a real competitor to #apple silicon. The fact that Apple got away with bottlenecking MacBook Airs for three generations without making their fan-less design waterproof is really disturbing.
