🌍 This is a prime example of traceability and leadership in the jewelry industry. Mejuri is leading the way in reducing their dependence on untraceable recycled gold supply chains. 📢 Looking forward to adding Fairmined certified gold to the supply chain of this exceptional company that is setting industry standards. "With the opportunity to increase Salmon Gold in our products, the proportion of recycled content in our products may decrease over time. Decreasing our use of recycled gold through the increase of Salmon Gold will enable us to achieve higher levels of traceability over time while also contributing to habitat restoration along the way, aiding in our 100% traceability and climate-positive goals by 2030." #traceability #accountability #conflictfreegold #pawnshopfreegold
We are thrilled to introduce you to our new collection made from 100% Salmon Gold, a pioneering approach to sourcing gold from abandoned legacy mines that is fully traceable from its origins and contributes to habitat restoration. Since inception, we’ve always seen fine jewelry as a means of true self expression. We’ve been intentional about our efforts in sustainability and as the company grows, our aspirations and abilities have continued to grow. We have always been committed to traceability and protecting our environment, but we have asked ourselves how we can set bolder targets. This is why we partnered with Regeneration by RESOLVE; a revolutionary new B-Corporation that uses re-mining and processing of waste from abandoned mine sites to support rehabilitation activities and restore natural environments, while attaining minerals such as Salmon Gold. If left untreated, these abandoned mines pollute sensitive watersheds, ecosystems and native species. Regeneration is reversing the effects of past industrial demands, which altered the flow of rivers, disrupted natural habitats that were vital for the fish populations and left unsecured tailings. The journey of our Salmon Gold collection begins at the legacy mines in North America then is refined at MKS PAMP, a Swiss company renowned for its expertise in refining and minting precious metals. By leveraging MKS PAMP’s Provenance™ traceability solution the gold is individually batch refined to maintain full traceability while ensuring purity of the gold., MKS PAMP sends the gold grain to Thailand, where one of our key trusted manufacturing partners meticulously crafts a unique collection that uses only this fully traceable gold. With the opportunity to increase Salmon Gold in our products, the proportion of recycled content in our products may decrease over time. Decreasing our use of recycled gold through the increase of Salmon Gold will enable us to achieve higher levels of traceability over time while also contributing to habitat restoration along the way, aiding in our 100% traceability and climate-positive goals by 2030. Each piece in this special collection is made from 100% Salmon Gold and bears the hallmark of both Mejuri and Regeneration logos. This distinctive mark tells a compelling story of environmental stewardship and renewal, traceability and partnership, highlighting our unwavering pledge to responsible jewelry making. Thank you to everyone who worked on this partnership - especially our product team and the team at RESOLVE. To shop the collection, visit https://lnkd.in/gTjMF3by

We have been working closely with Nibio since 2019 to find the needed temperature and time for the steam to neutralize invasive plants and harmful organisms in the soil. We have proven that our SoilSaver is a safe and sustainable way of recycling biologically contaminated soil. Today NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research published a new article that shows 100% efficiency of neutralizing potato cyst nematode, which is an organism that means a 40-year quarantine for growing potato if it is found in the farmer's field. This documentation shows again that our machines are capable of recycling contaminated soil. Every year more than 1000 tons of soil (more than 50.000 truckloads)are taken out of circulation in Norway. All of this could have been recycled with our SoilSaver. 2024 will be the first year where our machines recycle some of this soil 🙏 ♻ Geir Pollestad Landbruks- og matdepartementet https://lnkd.in/dYYziTGJ

Korteccia is a traditional Ugandan material produced with traditional craft techniques. Considered the precursor of modern non-woven fabrics, Korteccia is made only with the bark of the East African “Mutuba” fig tree, which regenerates very quickly with no damage to the actual tree. After being peeled from the trunk and manually processed, the bark becomes a cloth: low energy consumption and low CO2 emissions. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4a4INh2 The expertise and experience of Giada Dammacco and Filippo Pagliai have played a significant role in the innovative approach of Pangaia Grado Zero. Through their research and development efforts, they have pushed the boundaries of material utilization and introduced sustainable and nature-inspired materials into the manufacturing industry. Since 2001, our mission has been to make the world a better place, one material at a time. LIFEMATERIALS

Plastic has been discovered in ancient sediments! At the bottom of the oceans, on the tops of the mountains or on what's left of the polar ice caps... microplastics are everywhere. Even inside us. The environment as a whole, and the creatures that live in it, are polluted by these tiny fragments, which come from a wide range of products that we use every day, such as plastic packaging and coatings, of course, but also cosmetics and textile fibres. It is everywhere, with all the consequences that this can have on our health and on our ecosystems. So much, in fact, that it has been suggested that these particles, which accumulate in sediments at the bottom of lakes and oceans, could be used as a time marker to date the beginning of the Anthropocene, the new geological epoch that marks the human takeover of the planet. Plastic production didn't really take off until the early 1950s, and with it came a drastic increase in the amount of microplastics in sediments deposited since then. However, this pollution does not seem to have remained wisely at its stratigraphic level. A new study published in the journal Science Advances reveals the presence of microplastics in lake sediments dating from before 1950. The smallest particles have the ability to migrate through sedimentary layers older than the one in which they were deposited. In addition to being a pollutant on a spatial scale, microplastics are also a pollutant on a temporal scale! #microplastics #pollution #plastics #anthropocen
Downward migrating microplastics in lake sediments are a tricky indicator for the onset of the Anthropocene
