Climate resilience and adaptation is an attractive growth investment theme that is investible today, including through publicly listed companies. Global Adaptation & Resilience Investment Working Group Released a paper "Investing in Climate Resilience: Unlocking a Growing Market of Adaptation Solutions". This paper presents an initial toolkit for investors considering climate resilience as a thematic area, particularly in public markets. It presents a first-of-its-kind, AI-powered framework identifying a universe of over 800 publicly traded companies in the business of resilience along with methods investors can use to find these companies and incorporate climate resilience into investment product design. It also describes a proposed framework to define which companies are “in the business of resilience”, methods to locate these companies within the investable universe of publicly listed companies and how investors can design investment products to provide their clients with exposure to the theme. #climateadaptation #riskmanagement

How do green investing and climate policies interact? Could green investing do more harm than good by making effective public policies less likely to be implemented? Or do green investing and policies reinforce each other? Early this year, the E-axes Forum asked me to write a digest of current papers on this interesting (and crucial) question. You find it attached; please have a look and let me know what you think. Thanks, E-axes Forum, for giving me this opportunity! 📗 You can find our latest workingpaper on the topic on SSRN: https://lnkd.in/eNbgzhiW (Joint work with Julian Kölbel, Stefano Ramelli, and Anna Vasileva) Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE MIT Sloan School of Management MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative #Investing #Sustanability #ImpactInvesting #ESG

"The investment community can advocate for consistent climate policy and support its implementation, but they cannot lead or drive the pace of the transition. 🌍🔥 With $7 trillion of fossil fuel subsidies impeding climate finance efforts, particularly in emerging economies, the case for investments that support a Just Transition to net zero is clear. How can this be accelerated? 🤔 One of the main challenges for investors, and those designing investment products and solutions 💡 is understanding what 🔎 the “just” element of a just transition to net zero means from a practical perspective. Through our work we’ve identified three key elements: 🔺Advancing climate and environmental action 🔺Improving socio-economic distribution and equity 🔺Increasing community voice This has been expanded under the leadership of our UK National Partner, the Impact Investing Institute, to a set of Just Transition Criteria (link in comments ⬇️). Building upon existing frameworks, standards and labels 🏷️, the Criteria can be used by managers to align products to support a just transition to net zero. 📚 Learn more (link in comments). 🫱🏼🫲🏽 Impact Investing Institute | Blended Finance Task Force housed by Systemiq Ltd. | Convergence Blended Finance | Collaborative for Frontier Finance | OECD - OCDE | International Monetary Fund #ClimateAction #FossilFuelSubsidies #SustainableDevelopment #emergingeconomies
