Recent changes in Westminster leadership have brought planning reform to the forefront of policy discussions, with potential implications for Scotland's built environment sector. While the proposed reforms primarily target England, including changes to the National Planning Policy Framework and onshore wind policies, their focus on economic growth, increased housing targets, and infrastructure investments may influence policy discussions in Scotland. BEFS is monitoring these developments, assessing: • Potential impacts on Scottish planning policies • Opportunities for Scotland's existing built environment • Possible shifts in the Scottish Government's approach to planning, development, and economic strategy We'll keep our members informed of any significant changes that may affect Scotland's built environment sector. Sharing this great asset for my community development peeps. Addressing heirs' property is crucial to advancing #racialequity and community development. Families of color have disproportionately experienced these issues, limiting their ability to leverage real estate as a pathway to prosperity. Though complex, finding solutions to heirs' property is vital. It will take collaboration between legal experts, community groups, and policymakers. But the payoff - in terms of preserved #generationalwealth, reduced property abandonment, and more equitable access to property rights - makes it a challenge worth tackling. This is an issue that deserves far more attention. By shining a light on heirs' property, we can work towards a more just, prosperous future for all. 🎩: Center for Community Progress

The Raven Indigenous Outcomes Funds Fund is doing innovative, transformative work. Outcomes-based funding models are not appropriate in every policy situation, but Raven has done amazing work deploying outcomes finance to drive change and impact. A key point from Jeffrey Cyr and Wáhiakatste (Wahi) Diome-Deer: “Outcomes finance is particularly well-suited for the Indigenous context because it prioritizes community-defined goals and solutions. Traditional funding models often impose external priorities, leading to inefficiencies, and outcomes that may not align with the community’s needs.” https://lnkd.in/gBVHFE98
I had the privilege of co-writting this piece for National Day for Truth and Reconcilaition with Jeffrey Cyr. We discuss turning promises of Reconciliation into measurable progress and the work we’re spearheading at Raven Indigenous Outcomes Funds. “Outcomes finance aligns with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, placing control firmly in the hands of those most affected. This approach not only ensures efficient use of resources, but also empowers communities to define success on their own terms.” #Indigenous #Reconciliation #UNDRIP #OutcomesFinance https://lnkd.in/ePaPv6T6

Did you know? Transparent and participatory budgetary governance is the foundation of accountable and equitable development. Without it, resources may fail to reach those who need them most, leading to inequality and mistrust. At the Center for Budgetary Governance Advocacy (CBGA), we work to: ✅ Promote transparent and inclusive budgeting processes ✅ Build the capacity of civil society to monitor and influence budgets ✅ Advocate for budgets that align with sustainable development goals (SDGs) When citizens, civil society, and governments come together for open budgeting, everyone benefits. Transparency builds trust. Inclusion drives change. Let’s make budgets work for all. www.cbgaethiopia.org | t.me/cbgaet | www.fb.com/cbgaethiopia | https://lnkd.in/ee8mtW3j #BudgetTransparency #InclusiveDevelopment #AccountabilityMatters #BudgetForAll #GovernanceForChange

Sustainable, ongoing core funding is a critical piece of the puzzle for supporting Traditional Owner groups to participate meaningfully in the economy – particularly as new industries, like renewable energy, emerge.
The National Native Title Council has urged the federal government to provide Traditional Owners funding and access to finance, in response to a parliamentary report released this week that recommends essential steps to supporting First Nations Australians' right to economic self-determination. Giovanni Torre covers this important topic with Jamie Lowe and Kado Muir for National Indigenous Times See link in the comments section below #economic #selfdetermination #aboriginalaustralia #torresstraitislander #PBC #indigenousrights #cleanenergy #funding
