Crafting HELIOS: The AI-Powered Innovation Journey The creation of HELIOS was more than just a design project; it was a journey of innovation and dedication to making a positive impact. 🌍 Understanding the Challenge: It all started with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by refugees. Through research and empathy-driven insights, we identified the need for a portable power solution that goes beyond functionality to provide comfort and convenience. 💡Conceptualization and Ideation: The ideation phase was a playground of ideas and possibilities. We brainstormed, sketched, and prototyped different concepts, exploring how HELIOS could not only meet but exceed the expectations of its users. 🤖 Integrating Generative AI: A game-changer in the process was the integration of generative AI. Leveraging a number of different AI tools, including Chat GBT, Vizcom, and Midjourney, allowed us to explore a myriad of design possibilities, generate innovative solutions, and streamline the design iteration process, ultimately saving time and resources. Reflecting on a successful event tonight at the Avanade Australia School of Innovation! Our speaker was Lucio Ribeiro, Director of Marketing Digital and Innovation at the Seven Network and Forbes Tech columnist, who shared his extensive experience and deep insights on leveraging AI for significant productivity gains. The theme of the presentation was "Innovating with AI - Beyond Use Cases: Enabling AI Productivity and Practical Applications." Some key takeaways from the event included the importance of: 1. AI is disrupting the workplace. Our Startup Campuses too. Is this a good thing? Trend 1: Architecture & Planning. AI is helping designers and landlords understand the unique requirements of high-growth tech firms. From generative design to predictive planning and VR integration, the design process of buildings is becoming more innovative. And streamlined too. The relevance? The entire planning process of buildings is getting more efficient, with better feedback loops between key stakeholders. (Examples: SpaceForm, Delve, Revit's Gen Design) Trend 2: Adaptive Design. AI is simplifying spatial reconfiguration. Space operators can now predict peak usage times, adjust layouts, and receive suggestions to drive maximum efficiency. More information = more adaptiveness = more flexibility. This trend leverages existing sensors and data to help companies understand how people use space. The goal? A better experience. Yep, it’s likely commercial too. (Examples: Density io, qbiq ai, Lambent) Trend 3: Sustainability & Smart Buildings. Those with large portfolios and huge datasets can now produce highly accurate energy forecasting, advanced sustainability reporting, proactive equipment maintenance, and more. Similar to the adaptive design trend, data is becoming king. And companies big and small are rushing to the space, promising landlords and operators better sustainability metrics.
