Are there anything in common between agricommodity industry and the aviation industry? What can agricommodity industry learn from Air Asia, World’s Best Low-Cost Airlines for 14 consecutive years specifically? While the agricommodity industry and the aviation industry may seem miles of differences at first glance, there are indeed some commonalities and valuable lessons that can be drawn from the sustainability efforts of the aviation sector. The key areas where agricommodity businesses can benchmark and incorporate practices from the aviation industry are: 1) Operational Efficiency: Just like airlines focus on improving fuel efficiency and reducing carbon emissions per seat kilometer, agricommodity businesses can strive for operational efficiency in their processes. This could involve optimizing transportation routes, reducing energy consumption in farming and processing, and minimizing waste generation. 2) Environmental Sustainability: The aviation industry's emphasis on reducing carbon emissions and implementing waste management strategies provides inspiration for agricommodity businesses to adopt sustainable practices. This could include investing in renewable energy sources, implementing waste reduction and recycling programs, and adopting eco-friendly packaging solutions. 3) Digital Transformation: The aviation industry's adoption of digital technologies, such as AI chatbots for customer service and self-check-in solutions, highlights the importance of digital transformation for enhancing efficiency and customer satisfaction. Agricommodity businesses can explore similar technologies to streamline operations, improve customer experience, and reduce resource usage. 4) Diversity and Inclusion: The aviation industry's focus on increasing representation of women in leadership and STEM roles demonstrates a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Agricommodity businesses can benefit from fostering a diverse workforce and promoting gender equality, which can lead to innovative solutions and better decision-making. 5) Community Engagement: The aviation industry's community investment initiatives through organizations like the AirAsia Foundation provide a model for agricommodity businesses to engage with local communities and support sustainable development projects. This could involve investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure projects that benefit farming communities. By benchmarking and incorporating these practices from the aviation industry, agricommodity businesses can enhance their sustainability performance, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and contribute to a more sustainable future. www.capfixasia.com #RJ #CapitalA #AirAsia #CapFiX #Agricommodity #HealthcarePPE #Aviation #TonyFernandes #Sustainability

Three weeks have flown by, and with three more to go in my sustainability leadership course, I find myself deeply enlightened and inspired. This journey has reinforced my conviction that SPL|سبل is steadily moving in the right direction regarding sustainability practices. Though seemingly slow, our progress is impactful and meaningful, particularly in the critical areas of accident & safety management and workforce health & Safety. These efforts align perfectly with the material issues highlighted by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) for our industry, underscoring their importance. Meanwhile, my dedicated colleagues in operations, last mile, and innovation departments are working tirelessly to deploy e-vehicles (vans, cars, bikes, scooters) within our fleet. We are also advancing automation across our extensive network of processing centers and distribution hubs. These initiatives are part of our broader strategy to adapt to the significant transformations we are undergoing. This journey is indeed challenging, but it brings enormous satisfaction as we witness the tangible benefits of our hard work. Our unwavering commitment ensures that we meet today’s demands and pave the way for a brighter future. After all, who said that good times mean easy times :-)? The effort we invest now lays the foundation for the brighter, prosperous future we envision. Keep believing, keep striving…

"Sustainability is a much bigger topic. It covers everything from energy efficiency and water efficiency in our facilities. We focus a lot on waste elimination. We have a renewable energy goal. And so, sustainability is really tied directly into our business strategy and ultimately growth and a value plan for the company." – Kristen Siemen, vice president of sustainable workplaces and chief sustainability officer, General Motors Learn how GM is transitioning to an all-electric future. ⤵️

This year, my colleagues and I at Quantis have been delving into a critical question: how do you activate an entire organization to achieve sustainability goals? For years, much of the focus has been on strategy, goal-setting, reporting, and measurement. But the question we keep hearing is: how do we turn all this into meaningful action? Enter the Chief Operating Officer (COO) from stage left… Through our work, we’ve discovered that sustainability superheroes exist within the C-suite and beyond, ready to drive the organization forward. Our latest article, co-authored by Charlotte Bande and myself, explores how the COO might just be the unsung hero your sustainability agenda needs. https://lnkd.in/enZ8D-Ev

Change management and contextualizing the integration of sustainability strategies for each of a company’s business functions is not light work. Empowering and engaging with COOs is critical for the longevity of decarbonization interventions.
