Corio was pleased to support the 2024 ROG.e conference, one of Brazil’s major events in the renewable energy sector, that took place in Rio de Janeiro from 23-26 September. Our Head of Brazil, Ricardo de Luca, joined a panel to discuss the development of the offshore wind sector in Brazil, the scale of the opportunity and benefits, and how industry and government can work together to harness the country’s significant natural resources in offshore wind.  Speaking at the event, Ricardo said: “Offshore wind in Brazil should be considered as a state policy for the industrialization of the country, with the creation of high-skilled jobs, in addition to socio-economic benefits. We, developers, are working together with the Ministry of Mines and Energy with the aim of completing Brazil’s first seabed lease auction in 2025. “From there, Brazil will have the opportunity to run further auctions across its identified sites and scale up rapidly to make offshore wind an important part of the country’s growing renewable energy portfolio.” Corio is aiming to develop up to 6 GW of offshore wind projects in Brazil across five separate lease areas off the northern and southern coastlines.
