From Enid, Oklahoma, to Everywhere. I'm from Enid, a small town with big lessons. It’s where I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and the value of chasing a dream. Starting out, I never imagined I’d end up here: a licensed contractor, leading teams, solving complex problems, and shaping the future of construction. But it wasn’t an easy road. From sleepless nights reading, to working underground roughs in the hot sun, to the relentless pursuit of licenses and skills, the journey has been anything but simple. It’s taught me that nothing worth having comes easy, and that the grind is what makes the #success worth it. Today, I’m proud to be a member of a team that tackles hard, #emergency tasks—where the work is tough, but the rewards are even greater. I have been frequently asked about how employers can support employees amidst the challenges posed by the increasing cost of living, attracting top talent, or determining the benefits to offer outside the basics. My answer remains the same – SCHOOLING. It's a crucial factor that shouldn't be overlooked. As individuals, many emloyees are parents or aspire to be someday. By providing schooling support, we can alleviate financial burdens and stand by our team members. Last week, our small team at The Surpluss received the huge news. Over a year of additional work on top of our own busy schedules. Hundreds of (wo)man hours working on data compilations, business process changes, chasing up verifications. Thousands of conversations that ate away our evenings, weekends, family time. Plenty of doubts - can we make it? what is all of this hard work for? More barriers than we can even list. And, it finally happened. 🌍 We are the first climate-technology start up in the region to become a #BCorp (!!!!!!!!) When I first launched The Surpluss, I wanted to make sure that we built a company culture that was designed for innovation and impact with longevity.
