Another great collaboration with our developers Castell Group and the local school close to one of our new developments. Towards the end of the summer we delivered new equipment to Trallwn Primary School for the outside play areas. The pupils have been busy since designing new artwork to brighten up our communal gardens in Trallwn Farm Close. This week the pupils came along to meet the residents and see the artwork displayed in the gardens. It’s important when building in the community that we are able to make these links with local groups and schools and give something back. #PartnershipWorking #CommunityBenefit

Rectory Way Open Space is the latest play area in the borough that will see upgrades and improvements. Using Section 106 (S106) funding the new design has been guided by the natural landscape, adopting a fresh approach to enhance the space. It has been reimagined to create a more inviting environment, ensuring clear sightlines throughout the space with pathways no longer dividing the area and improving play facilities. We are also undertaking repairs across three other play areas to maintain high-quality play facilities in the brough. This follows our regeneration of Noakes Meadow Play Area earlier this year, which saw the redesign of the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). Applying new research the MUGA has smaller fences compared to traditional ones, making the space more welcoming for all to foster safer and more inclusive communities. ℹ️ You can find out more on our website: https://lnkd.in/dtUy485W

Late last month, the Morristown Zoning Board unanimously approved a back-of-house expansion to the 87-year-old Mayo Performing Arts Center in the Town of Morristown. 🎭 The plan calls for a 31,000 SF five-story addition and a bi-level parking garage. While the historic façade along South Street will be unchanged, #MPAC will now extend from South Street to King Place. We also want to note that most of the back-of-house addition will be dedicated to their #artseducation program, currently located in the buildings being replaced by the expansion. So not only will this expansion add to #Morristown’s historic charm and contribute to its economic vitality, but will also inspire local artists of the future. 🎨👨🎨 Cultural institutions like #MayoPAC are a vital economic engine for downtowns across the State, and particularly in Morristown, not only driving foot traffic to surrounding businesses, but driving the community's economic health. 🛍 In their most recent annual report, the Center stated that the nonprofit arts center generated more than $15 million in revenue for local businesses in the 2022/23 season. 💰 That's no chump change. Every project we undertake is an opportunity to put people and the community at the core of it, prioritising their comfort, sense of place, health and wellbeing in the total design. For us, people are at the heart of our vision. Libraries are unique in their extraordinary ability to touch every facet of daily life. From beautiful collections of books and resources, to learning, employment and loneliness, to connectivity even bridging nature, heritage and culture. Creating spaces that meet the diverse needs of everyone is a challenge that our design teams understand. The teams we collaborate with in libraries understand just how challenging it is to create places where the needs of people from all walks of life are met. They see the need for kindness and bonds - not just to individuals but to the whole community and the planet, and most importantly to community cohesion. Together, when we get it right, the library becomes a powerful catalyst for community growth, learning, opportunity, a shared sense of place and regeneration. Let’s start a conversation! Another school project case study to start the week. This one was led by Maria Dolores R.. ST MARY'S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL We were commissioned by Baxall Construction to provide acoustic design advice for a new single-storey building at St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Deal. The development includes general classrooms (reception, infant, and junior), practical rooms (food/science/DT room), a library, SEN resource space, office accommodation, and an assembly hall. The results of the recent pre-completion acoustic testing confirmed that our design and proposed plant mitigation measures meet the agreed target acoustic performance standards. We are specialists in acoustic design for all types of educational settings. We are also leading research in to the inclusive design of schools for children with special educational needs. A case study this week on one such project. This one was led by Caroline McKinlay. MAIDENBOWER INFANT SCHOOL Anderson Acoustics was commissioned by SUNNINGHILL CONSTRUCTION CO. LIMITED to provide acoustic design advice for the refurbishment of Maidenbower Infant School in Crawley. The refurbishment creates a Special Support Centre for children with special educational needs within this mainstream setting, including new classrooms, group areas, a sensory room, a calming room, offices, and hygiene areas. By identifying risks and opportunities, and implementing effective mitigation measures, we provided a comprehensive acoustic strategy that meets the needs of the school, the staff and children within the constraints of the budget. 'This was a complicated, but small-scale refurbishment with very limited plant space but we worked closely together with Anderson Acoustics to achieve a greatly improved facility for the children.' Colin Coulthard, Design Director.
