Today, on Veterans Day, I want to take a moment to honor those who served and to share a message that’s close to my heart. Serving in the Navy taught me invaluable skills—discipline, resilience, leadership, and an unshakable commitment to teamwork. But when my time in uniform ended, stepping into the civilian world was both exciting and challenging. Like many veterans, I faced a transition filled with many unknowns. One of the best ways we can truly honor veterans isn’t just through recognition—it’s by extending a helping hand during this transition. Veterans bring a wealth of skills and experience, yet translating those strengths into a new career path isn’t always straightforward. Whether through mentorship, networking, training, or simply understanding their journey, we have the power to make a real difference. If you’re a hiring manager, consider the leadership and dedication a veteran can bring to your team. If you’re a veteran, remember: you’re not alone on this journey. There’s a network of us who have been there and are here to help. To my fellow veterans: thank you for your service and for the courage it takes to start anew. To everyone else: let’s not just honor veterans today—let’s support them every day in building a future as remarkable as their past. ~Mr. Supply Chain #AlwaysBeLearning #Veterans #VeteransDay #Careers

Crafting compelling narratives and fostering meaningful connections – that's my passion! Not long ago, I had the chance to help re-brand a military veteran transitioning to civilian life. It was truly an honor, and I learned a ton in the process. What struck me most was that this veteran feared career change more than combat. It really got me thinking. I wonder how often the fear of change prevents us from moving forward. When you're facing a major change, what are your go-to questions to kickstart the discovery process? #BrandStorytelling #EngagementExpert

The Career Transition Strategies Workshop facilitated by Noël McCall / MilBridge Consulting, LLC, was valuable to me. If you are transitioning, this is a good workshop to attend to help you prepare successfully. Although I have attended workshops and fellowships in the past covering transition topics in fine detail, I believe it is imperative to stay sharp and incorporate lessons learned to continually improve - especially when choosing the right company culture, position within your chosen passions, and path to pick the right job after the military. Here are some key takeaways from the workshop: *Military to Civilian Transition: Further focusing my resume, pitch, and interview response narrative. *One-on-One Coaching: Personalized guidance to refine my career path. *Networking Strategy Improvement: Continuously working on uncovering hidden job opportunities. Networking goes beyond seeking job opportunities, as it allows you to help others as well. This is the area I seek most to improve, as it is a key differentiator for success. *Personal Branding: Understanding my brand, ensuring I was still on azimuth, and further refining/learning how to communicate it effectively. I was able to compare an assessment with similar ones to better ascertain my skills, strengths, and weaknesses. *Negotiating Offers: Setting expectations and exploring options. Huge thanks to Noël McCall and Al Lampkins for hosting this workshop. Thanks also to Veterans Bridge Home and @The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic. #CareerTransition #MilitaryToCivilian #ProfessionalGrowth

As the Career College Transition Fair comes up April 17 at Seymour High School, we are introducing you to the participants. U.S. Army, Marine Corps and Navy Since its official establishment June 14, 1775, more than a year before the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Army has played a vital role in the growth and development of the American nation. Drawing on both long-standing militia traditions and recently introduced professional standards, it won the new republic's independence in an arduous eight-year struggle against Great Britain. At times, the Army provided the lone symbol of nationhood around which patriots rallied. Since Nov. 10, 1775, the U.S. Marine Corps is a legacy of having each other’s back— and never backing down. On legendary battlefields like Guadalcanal, Chosin Reservoir and Marjah in defense of our national interests. Through necessary actions back home, enabling our own struggling communities to thrive once more. Then and now, every Marine is a United States Marine, fighting through every circumstance to continue our nation's advance. The U.S. Navy’s creation and development extended over nearly a quarter of a century, from the American Revolution to the Quasi-War with France, and proceeded in the face of numerous political, philosophical and economic obstacles. Today marks my first day as a retired veteran, reflecting on 22 years of military service. Throughout my career, I've navigated countless pivots, growing into the person I am today. My greatest hope is that my leadership efforts positively impacted the lives of others. After two decades in a military uniform, my journey has reached its official end. This path has been filled with challenges, losses, and incredible moments shared with amazing friends. Serving others and defending freedom has been an immense privilege and honor. Each obstacle and lesson has shaped me into who I am today. My time in the US Army and the 75th Ranger Regiment, U.S. Army has strengthened me in unimaginable ways, influencing me as a husband, father, and man. As I bid a final farewell to my time in uniform, I reflect on the deeply rewarding experiences it has brought me. If I could, I would personally thank everyone who has inspired me, mentored me, held me accountable, and most importantly, tolerated my passionate personality, but such a list would take years to work through. Life in the military is never easy, but the things worth it are never easy. I couldn’t have asked for a better profession. Serving alongside so many incredible people who continuously push each other to succeed in all aspects of life has been a dream for any young adult striving to become their best self. For that experience, I am profoundly grateful. I couldn't have asked for a stronger foundation as I transition to civilian life and pursue my MBA at Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business. I'm still exploring how I want to continue making a difference, and that's the beauty of this new path. Unlike the military, there are no definitive right or wrong answers, and I am excited to find what works best for me. One thing remains certain: I will always be a leader that strives to uplift others. If anyone knows a servicemember who is thinking about transitioning, you are welcome to connect. I'll gladly pass on my reflections, thoughts and lessons learned from my transition. As leaders, regardless if someone continues in our organization, we should strive to the be catalysts for their long term success. This Veterans day I had a few mintues to reflect on all the ways my service in the Marines shaped who I am. In terms of my career there are three major areas. 1. Adapt and Overcome: In the Corps, every challenge required quick thinking and resilience. In sales engineering, every client and project brings unique hurdles. I’ve learned to pivot quickly and find solutions, no matter the circumstances. 2. Team Before Self: The Marine Corps instills the importance of teamwork, which I bring to every sales project. Whether I’m collaborating with clients or colleagues, I focus on the mission first and always have my team's back. 3. Precision and Preparation: Attention to detail was non-negotiable in the Corps. Now, I’m just as thorough when preparing for a client presentation or demo—accuracy and readiness are key to winning trust. Grateful for how these experiences have shaped me!" #veteransday #Teamwork #AdaptAndOvercome

While Memorial Day honors the fallen, it also highlights the importance of supporting veterans who reintegrate into civilian life. Veterans bring unique skills, experiences, and values to the workforce, such as leadership, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Here’s how we can support them: Veteran Hiring Initiatives: Create recruitment programs to attract veteran talent 🎯. Skill Translation and Training: Help veterans translate their military skills into civilian roles 📚. Mentorship and Peer Support: Establish mentorship programs for veterans to connect and thrive 🤝. Flexible Policies: Offer flexible work arrangements and comprehensive benefits to meet their needs 🏥. Inclusive Culture: Promote a workplace culture that values the diverse experiences veterans bring 🌟. By implementing these strategies, we not only honor their service but also enrich our workplaces with their unique strengths. This Memorial Day, let's remember the fallen and actively support our veterans every day. 🙏 #MemorialDay #SupportOurVeterans #WorkplaceInclusion #VeteranEmployment

This quote has been with me a lot lately, it is a great reminder that a job worth doing is a job done right, and that applies to all aspects of life be it in your career, with your family and friends or most importantly of all with yourself. The origin of this quote is though to have originated from the Navy SEALs emphasizing the importance of accuracy and consistency under a controlled pace to achieve excellence.
