#Pharmacists are numbers only in some organizations! , well , Rami , isn't it all about numbers? my answer is simple: if it is only about numbers , let us dissolve our College and switch #pharmacies into one of two : a governmental run Pharmacies ( some countries did it and failed ) , or grocery stores run by business people only ( isn't this the current situation 🤔) , the root causes for this crisis are : - ignoring many shouts on this issue before for many years -no legislations of any type that protect #whistelblowers -#pbms -outdated #reimbursement models from the 90s ! #corporate influence inside #government decision makers #pharmacists being too polite and passive about the #profession when compared to other #healthcare professionals , -non accountable people in pharmacy world pushing accountable people to do wrong things ( check the US ,you will see where we are heading !) -a hidden "slave master " #workculture based on loyalty not skills or work ethics around patients and professionals. Check out page 10 of September IPN for my thoughts on how widespread might the pharmacist prescription extension be! Also for potential communication issues as the new service is rolled out. Do you think it is an exciting time for pharmacists, recognized as being able to provide more advanced services? Or is it another service community pharmacies are expected to provide without payment from the PCRS, with pharmacists vanishing to the consultation room for 15mins as prescriptions are waiting to be checked? What about the added responsibility? Is relying on the patients to tell us what illnesses they suffer from really the best way to make sure we get all the relevant information? You won't get an answer to those questions in the article, but that has been going through my head since last Wednesday's IIOP webinar! Challenging times ahead - and pharmacist prescribing is next in 2025. So much left to 'our professional judgement'. Or is it a good time to move away from community pharmacy 😂 #pharmacylife #prescriptionextension #irishpharmacy #communitypharmacy
