Family caregivers form a crucial support system, with over 55 million Americans giving their time, energy, and love to care for family members in need. Their efforts are instrumental in an aging society, yet they often go unrecognized and unsupported. This November, let’s acknowledge their commitment and advocate for initiatives that provide them with essential resources. By creating a supportive environment, we can enhance their wellbeing and the quality of care they provide. 🌍 #FamilyCaregivers #CaregiverSupport #HealthcareCommunity #SupportCaregivers https://lnkd.in/dBcvQ-bs

🥪The Sandwich Generation Squeeze. This is such a great example of what the sandwich generation (those who are caring for aging parents and kids at the same time) is going through. This daughter’s mom (affectionately called mommy) has Alzheimer’s and requires 24/7 care. 🏡Mommy lives with her daughter and family where daughter and family provide care for her. Daughter wants to keep mommy at home as long as possible. 💸Daughter says mommy’s care expenses are $90,000/yr., but mommy’s income is only $66,000/yr. They hold down 5-7 jobs to continue to be able to pay bills and care for mommy. 😔Daughter says providing care has taken a toll on them mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, and financially. Daughter created an Instagram page sharing videos of her and mommy throughout the day because she needed community, love, to be seen, and because this caregiving experience impacts so many people. Does your family have a plan for extended care? 📢Create a plan IN ADVANCE to protect your family and finances. This is what you need to identify: 🔹WHO will provide and coordinate care 🔹WHERE you can and want to receive care 🔹HOW you will effectively and efficiently pay for care What’s your plan?? #ExtendedCare #LongTermCare #Plan https://lnkd.in/gSdadTNu

When it comes to care for our loved ones, a "one size fits all" approach doesn’t work. Care homes may not be the right choice for everyone, and for many, the idea of living in a residential setting can be overwhelming and isolating. That's where live-in care can make all the difference. Live-in care offers personalised, one-on-one support, allowing your loved ones to remain in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by familiar faces and environments. It’s a kinder alternative that gives them the dignity and respect they deserve, while also providing peace of mind for families. At Ashridge, we believe the more people understand live-in care, the better quality of life our loved ones can experience. It’s not just about care—it’s about making sure our elderly family members continue to live in a place where they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. As we navigate the complexities of caring for aging loved ones, many families experience a pivotal moment known as the "Suddenly Looking Older Moment" or “SLOMO.” This moment occurs when relatives notice how much their elderly family members have changed, sometimes feeling a sense of shock, worry, or even guilt. For many, this realisation brings with it concern over whether their loved one is coping independently, often triggering difficult family conversations about care options. At Braeburn Care, we understand how these moments can stir up anxiety, especially when the options seem limited. That's why we offer live-in care services, providing personalised support that helps older adults maintain their independence in the comfort of their own homes. Live-in care offers a solution that avoids the stress and upheaval of transitioning to a care home, while ensuring that loved ones receive the assistance they need on a daily basis; https://lnkd.in/ebFjYUCa Rather than waiting for a crisis, we encourage families to explore care options early on, so that they can make informed decisions for their loved ones’ well-being. Our live-in care services are designed to support both the individual and their family, providing peace of mind and the reassurance that a caring professional is always there to help; https://lnkd.in/eQB-GJFc #CareChoices #CareOptions #LiveInCare #SupportAtHome #ElderlyCare #Independence #IndependentLiving #HomeCare #BraeburnCare #ProactiveCarePlanning #QualityOfLife #Kent #EastSussex

Caring for a loved one can be both rewarding and challenging. As we navigate the journey of aging together, it's essential to support our family caregivers every step of the way. Here are some tangible ways you can make a difference: Offer a listening ear: Sometimes, all caregivers need is someone to talk to. Take the time to lend a compassionate ear and validate their experiences. Share the workload: Whether it's assisting with daily tasks or providing respite care, offering to share responsibilities can lighten the load for caregivers. Educate yourself: Learn about the aging process and available resources in your community. Knowledge is power, and being informed can help you better support caregivers. Provide emotional support: Caregiving can be emotionally draining. Show empathy, offer encouragement, and let them know they're not alone in this journey. Advocate for their needs: Stand up for caregivers' rights and ensure they have access to the support services and resources they need to thrive. Together, let's create a supportive environment where family caregivers feel valued, appreciated, and empowered.
