A year ago, as part of the Tallinn Green Capital citizens' assembly, I presented landscape contractors' perspectives on improving urban greenery. Time moves on, and I sincerely hope that Tallinn's new city government and authorities can see the big picture instead of focusing on details. The green transition requires rethinking the city as a whole. It should not focus on opposition – cars vs. cyclists vs. pedestrians vs. urban nature. A quality living environment is in all of our common interests. https://lnkd.in/dpMcaFJe

Reflecting on our journey from the Luxottica POC and first board meeting at MBS to the Accelerating Asia Ventures program and this recent event at Villaggio Italia during the Tour Vespucci, I’m incredibly proud of how far Ulisse (Lanp) has come. Thanks to ITA - Italian Trade Agency - Singapore and the Global Startup Program, we’ve not only grown but shared our evolution on a global stage, with Singapore becoming a key launchpad. This event also highlighted a positive shift in Italy’s approach to startups—focused on better capital access, legislative streamlining, and international collaboration, especially with strategic regions like Singapore. It’s exciting to see partnerships between our countries grow, particularly in sectors like manufacturing, semiconductors, and defense, while enhancing startup ecosystems to attract investments both ways. For entrepreneurs like me, who left Italy seeking faster ecosystems, it’s inspiring to see Italy’s steady progress in supporting startups with a more business-oriented political class. Here’s to a bright future for Italian innovation worldwide. #Innovation #UlisseJourney #GlobalStartupProgram #ItalianTradeAgency #VillaggioItalia #SingaporeExpansion CDP Cassa Depositi e Prestiti ITA - Italian Trade Agency - Singapore Lanp

Congratulations to all the 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation winners. The beauty of this organization is in finding the wide spectrum of people who are contributing in their own beautiful ways to make this world a better place. In the current tumultuous times, it holds more significance than ever. Miyazaki Hayao has used animation to teach children about the importance of environment, sustainability, and peace. Through his storytelling, he nurtures a new generation that values the earth, fostering a mindset of circularity and responsibility. The Rural Doctors Movement has shown us the strength of community-led change. By bringing together local doctors and advocating for policy reforms, they’ve created a grassroots solution that bridges the gap between accessibility and quality in healthcare. Their work exemplifies the true spirit of Swaraj (sovereignty), empowering communities to take control of their health and futures. Farwiza Farhan have been unwavering champions of the Leuser Ecosystem in Sumatra, defending the sovereignty of nature and the rights of Adivasi communities. Their fight for the environment is a powerful reminder that protecting our natural world is inseparable from protecting the people who are most intimately connected to it. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong has devoted her life to the healing of war-torn communities, proving that it is never too late to seek justice and provide relief to those who have suffered. Her dedication speaks to the deep human need for reconciliation and the relentless pursuit of peace. Phuntsho, Karma, and the Loden Foundation embody the balance between honoring tradition and embracing innovation. By fostering entrepreneurship and economic development, they are creating a circular economy that respects the past while confidently stepping into the future. The spirit of Adivasi Swaraj, circularity, and a safer, more inclusive world lives on through the incredible efforts of these inspiring leaders. They remind us that, even in the face of great challenges, there is always room for hope, courage, and action. #RamonMagsaysayAward #Swaraj #AdivasiCommunities #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #HealthcareForAll #EnvironmentalJustice #PeaceAndReconciliation #HopeForTheFuture #RamonMagsaysayAward #66thRamonMagsaysayAwards #GreatnessOfSpirit #TransformativeLeadership

One may be wondering what a basket, a dilapidated road/rail LinkedIn post and a civil engineer have in common? Infrastructure South Africa . The BabyBoomer.org generation, born after World War II in Johannesburg, will remember the shortest route gravel road option through the Free State to get to KwaZulu-Natal(KZN) beaches and the alternative overnight train journey via Standerton/Newcastle. Both cost about the same, using FossilFueled Foundation assisted energy to complete the trip. There was a very long dedicated railway tunnel flattening out the beautiful undulating KZN countryside around Pietermaritzburg, which didn't matter in the slightest because most times it was dark outside anyway. All of this was happening whilst the aviation industry in the country, and indeed around the world, was talking off. Now the local road trip, mostly on a good bitumen road, is far more expensive than the cheaper alternative air option. Enter the ClimateChange Resilience Org option and one now has a colourful basket of alternative arrangements excluding the KZN rail travel option, which nobody uses anymore, to consider before planning your December holidays. merrychristmas happynewyear
There is also a very strong case here for good quality, local gravel material for well-graded/maintained wearing courses on lightly trafficked roads. The roads article on pages 38-42 encapsulates a potential major impact/predicament for the already stressed South African economy and dilapidated rail network. 🌊 [RTVSLO.si MMC at Ocean Around Us - Echoes of the Abyss: Toxic Legacies of Oceanic Ecologies Symposium by Robertina Šebjanič] Brush up on your Slovene and have a listen to the 𝗦𝗲𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝘀 by Lea Širok that explores the powerful story about the leftover ammunition from past wars that still sits at the bottom of the sea(s). The show echoes the recent symposium Ocean Around Us – Echoes of the Abyss, organized by Robertina Šebjanič and Manca Bajec, which explored the harmful impact of these toxic legacies on people and marine life.
Last summer I had the honor to contribute to the Siili Solutions #SiiliWay best practices short-video series on the topic of well-functioning teams and how to build and develop such. -- In just 10 minutes I go through the following tough questions drafted by Joanna Kahila and Pasi Moilanen, the power-duo behind the ‘Siili way’ best practices series. - What is a functional team? - What are the key elements of a functional team? - What is a ‘proto team’? - How do you duplicate functional team to a new one? - Where can you find more information? https://lnkd.in/gFtXPVhp Recording and editing, Tommi Viitala -- *) Proto team? Not an established scientific term, but rather something I have used based on real life experience. It’s a few people that have already worked together in a team successfully forming the core of a new team. From Greek ‘protos’ (πρῶτος) = first + ‘team’. Like a prototype of a new team. Organically present e.g. at smaller construction companies and likewise at Siili in our DXP and eCom Competence Community. #team #teamwork #agile #crossfunctional #bestpractices #groupdynamics #psychologicalsafety
