AirBaltic's Financial Roulette: Banking on Government Lifelines AirBaltic's financial struggles are compounded by a troubling realization: the company's management may be banking on government bailouts rather than genuine improvement. Despite mounting losses and debt, there seems to be little incentive for the airline to enact meaningful change. The recent EUR840 million (USD901 million) 14.5% junk-bond issuance raises questions about the company's long-term strategy. With a history of relying on loans to cover existing debts, AirBaltic's approach appears more reactive than proactive. Seems that the airline's management is well aware of the government's tendency to step in and cover debts when necessary.
