The work that charities do is priceless; an amazing shoulder of support for those that need it. Equally the work that people do voluntarily to create the opportunities to fundraise is just as is important and I’m so very proud of what my Father-in-Law has and continues to achieve. Never underestimate the value of either your financial contribution or your non-financial support to any charity. They need you and one day you may just need them. #payitforward
Probably one of the lesser used corporate benefits - charity fund matching. Such an important part for any business who can, to take responsibility and give back to the communities who support us. Something I’ve taken advantage of at HSBC every year for the last 22! I’m so incredibly proud of my dad, who, after losing two of his friends to their individual battles with cancer, decided to do something about it. Since 2003, we have walked every year (except 2020) in their memory, and he’s raised £211k over that time for various cancer charities, the main ones being Marie Curie, The Oesophageal Patients Association, Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK. Before he retired from his business, there were numerous business associates in his network who also supported with generous donations and by taking part. Some still do to this day despite his retirement 8 years ago. It must be hard for charities in times of economic hardship, which is why corporate support becomes so much more important. Importantly, for anyone who would like to donate (please do if you can!) here is the just giving link: https://lnkd.in/evtbCjhf For anyone who is interested, here is my Dad’s website, which is now maintained by my sister who had to learn how to do this from scratch after our much beloved friend and techy support passed away a few years ago. https://lnkd.in/ea3z6twU Thank you for reading. And, if you fancy joining us next year for a lovely jaunt around the Chatsworth country side with a welcoming Yorkshire bunch, the website will be updated with next years details soon! Work colleagues - beware - I’ll be hounding you next week!

A massive well done to everyone today, a huge team effort! Group First took part in Football Shirt Friday, raising money to help the fight against Bowel Cancer. Bobby Moore sadly passed away at the age of 51 after a battle with Bowel Cancer. Since his death, the Bobby Moore Fund has raised over £30 Million and has seen a 30% decrease in mortality rates for people with Bowel Cancer. However, bowel cancer is the second most common cause of #cancer death in the UK and there are around 43,000 new #bowel cancer cases in the UK every year and #fundraising days like today are important to #support and #help raise #awareness. In total we raised £240 for the Bobby Moore Fund! 100% of the money raised is donated to Cancer Research UK through the #fund. A special mention and thank you to Jack Higgleton for organising our efforts. Well done all involved … what a team!! 💜💙 #insurancefirst #mortgagesfirst #groupfirst #pivotalgrowth #newhomes #developers #protection #insuranceexperts #notjustnewbuild #remortgage #producttransfer #lifetimeclients #relationships #teamwork #fightcancer #bobbymoore #footballshirtfriday #raiseawareness #donations Insurance First Ian Bush Tom Henderson Tanya Rudland Andrew Mannion Liam Morrissey Nina Patrick Laura Dowsett George King CertRBCB Sophie Morton Dave Jones Lois Talbot Amy Featherstone Sam Noble Lee Layer CeMap James Hunt Ryan O'Kane DipFA CeMAP

Hey Network 👋🏾 Every once in a while, I like to push myself out of my comfort zone for a great cause, and this time, it’s personal. Cancer has affected the lives of so many friends and family around me, and now it’s time to step up. In January, I’ll be competing in a Hyrox event, representing the amazing Macmillan charity. I’m teaming up with my partner-in-crime Carla Brault and together we’re going all out in the mixed pairs event to support those battling cancer. 🏅 For those who haven’t heard of Hyrox, here’s what we’ll be up against: 🏃🏾1km Run + 1000m Ski Erg 🏃🏾 1km Run + Sled Push (152kg) 🏃🏾1km Run + Sled Pull (103kg) 🏃🏾1km Run + 80m Burpee Broad Jumps 🏃🏾1km Run + 1000m Row 🏃🏾 1km Run + Farmers Carry (24kg) 🏃🏾1km Run + Sandbag Lunges (20kg) 🏃🏾1km Run + 6kg Wall Balls (75 reps) The running is a joint effort, whilst the exercises can be shared depending on individual strengths. Our goal? To finish the event in under 1 hour and 10 minutes, which would qualify us for the elite event! We’re training hard and aiming high, but confident we can achieve a qualifying time. We’re raising £800 as a team for Macmillan. If you’d like to make a difference and cheer us on, please donate here: https://lnkd.in/ePyNGqeu 💚 Every contribution helps, regardless the size🚀 #Hyrox #Macmillan #CancerCharity #Fundraising #HyroxJourney #EliteGoals

On June 23, 2020, we faced an unimaginable loss. Ade Ayodele, a vibrant sports executive, dedicated friend, and cherished member of the Ayodele family, passed away from colon cancer at just 31 years old. Determined to transform our grief into purpose, we channeled our energy into supporting the the V Foundation's Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer Research Fund. In 2020 alone, we raised $100,000 to advance the understand the biological basis of cancer disparities. Through Facebook fundraisers, runs, and rides, our community united to prevent others from enduring similar heartache. These efforts have evolved into our annual Play for Ade golf tournament, celebrating Ade's passion for golf and mentorship. This year's event was especially memorable as my little 2-year-old Ade picked up a club for the first time, swinging in honor of his late uncle. Yet, our mission is far from complete. Too many young lives, like those of Stuart Scott, Chadwick Boseman, and Virgil Abloh, are cut short by cancer, and we don't know why. I am proud to announce that we donated another $5,000 this year, thanks to the unwavering support of our attendees, sponsors, and community. That was the seed, but we aim to double (or triple or quadruple) our impact again this year. Join us in contributing to Ade’s memorial fund with the V Foundation (LINK BELOW), and together, let’s continue the crucial work to end cancer disparities. https://lnkd.in/gsaxzvTK #PlayForAde #VCancerResearch #CancerAwareness #Fundraiser #JoinTheFight #InMemory #GolfForGood #DonateNow

Many of you will know that, as a business, we support Be More Frank – a charity fund set up in honour of Frank Cleal, who died aged 13 from a rare bone cancer. #BeMoreFrank is a special named fund of the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust that provides grants to the family of every child with cancer in Herefordshire, Powys, Worcestershire, Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire and Ceredigion. As part of our fundraising efforts, our fantastic office teams took part in wear red day today. Frank was a big Liverpool FC fan, so we are sure he would have approved of this theme! A huge thank you to everyone who took part and please keep spreading awareness of this fantastic charity fund. https://lnkd.in/ehHg2tYe #charityfundraising
