Why are two major looting gangs camped out by Gaza’s southeastern borders right by the Karem Shalom Crossing, in full view of the IDF, with their handguns, rifles, and even RPGs? Is it really the case that the IDF doesn’t care what happens to aid and humanitarian supplies once they go into Gaza because this is considered an internal Palestinian issue, or is there something else at play? How is it that the IDF is OK with armed gangsters and thugs who are mere meters away from Israel's borders when the army is systematically going after Hamas and other armed individuals throughout the Gaza Strip?
How does the IDF trust that these visibly armed criminal looters and gangsters are not going to infiltrate the border with Israel and potentially attack Israeli targets, unless the IDF somehow is confident and feels comfortable about who these gangsters are and what they are doing? The answer to these questions is vital to understanding the worsening famine-like conditions and the daily looting of dozens of aid trucks that cannot reach hungry civilians who are desperate and the most in need. It is undeniable that the IDF, one way or another, is directly or indirectly allowing this to continue; in other words, the Israeli military’s main problem is ‘who’ holds the guns in Gaza rather than the mere presence of guns there. This casts doubt on one of the IDF’s stated goals, which is to disarm the coastal enclave by removing munitions that could be turned on Israeli targets.
