Electrum Discovery's new European significant copper-gold anomaly only five kilometres east of a world class copper-gold porphyry mine on the Western Tethyan Belt. The anomaly, named ‘Bambino’, measures up to 550 meters in length and over 100 meters in width and remains open in all directions, with copper in soils ranging from 500 – 8238 ppm copper and rock chip samples returning grades of 2.85% and 0.32% copper. Electrum Discovery is also expanding its precious metal resources. So far the inferred resources are 670,000oz gold equivalent.

At MDRU - Mineral Deposit Research Unit, we strive to create opportunities not only for our students in the academic setting, but also for our industry sponsors in the form of field-based training. Our goals? To integrate research into everyday exploration decision making and train the next generation of geologists to find ore deposits under cover. Our recent field trip to Arizona is a perfect example of this. Between November 1-8, our MDRU team led 23 industry professionals from around the world on a tour of porphyry copper deposits in Arizona (SC132: Distal Footprints and Characteristics of Porphyry Deposits in Arizona). Our participants brought an incredible level of knowledge and willingness to learn! It was a great experience to lead this field trip along with Robert G. Lee and Shaun Barker. Thanks to our MDRU-led team for all the planning support: Brian McNulty, Nikola Denisová, Maria Alejandra R., Warren Wegener, and Maxwell Porter. Samples were collected from gossaniferous altered zones within sulfide-bearing metabasalts, exhibiting notable sulfide mineralization, particularly auriferous arsenopyrite. The arsenopyrite has undergone alteration, resulting in secondary arsenic, limonite, and hematite, along with disseminated pyrite cubes observed in the samples. The potential presence of gold within the lattice of pyrite, along with associated pathfinder elements for gold, is highly probable, although further analysis is underway. The area demonstrates complex polymetallic zones, and preliminary elemental analysis confirms the presence of a significant metal assemblage, providing critical insights into the region's mineralization potential. Suggestions and input from expert geoscientists and geologists would be greatly appreciated for further discussion.
