We desperately need community and groups, maybe today more than ever - how else can we learn to see the person behind the eyes, to understand our own assumptions, which are not bad, they are just what we come with... SO I'm glad to be learning more on facilitating groups from Lynn Preston and other group members in this new module on ''Facilitating Focusing Groups Communities and Conversations'' https://lnkd.in/eGtARkiM

What a fantastic, knowledge-infused ‘The Neurodiversity at Work' conference! As Ruth Ashford prompted us to take one grain of wisdom from each panellist, it was hard not to follow the advice. 11 pages later, each panellist added grain and planted a tree to flourish in our workplaces and environments. These are just some of the ideas that left an impact on me: ⚡️Each neurodiverse individual has unique strengths and strategies that enhance their energy level. BBC Story Tellers had an excellent short video that allowed us to look into Neurodivergent individuals' working lives, which portrayed challenges some people may not even perceive (clicking of shoe soles, overcrowded lifts, raised anxiety due to time pressure and more). BBC Cymru has done phenomenal work at addressing it by providing support for Neurodiverse individuals (1on1 basis, workspaces, markings) 🌊Leena Haque shared her phenomenal story of perseverance in securing a job at BBC and being a cornerstone in creating strategies for Diverse individual inclusion within her workplace. 'Ripple Effect' - starting from one person and ‘moving’ others along the way. ⏳It is not easy (in terms of process and time scale) to receive a formal diagnosis of Neurodiversity. It takes 6-7!!! YEARS. In addition, the threshold may sometimes not be achieved, so individuals may not receive the diagnosis, resulting in low confidence and self-esteem and affecting work and personal life. ☀️On the 'bright side,' the Equality Act 2010 protects Neurodiverse individuals, and ET sees more cases year after year. 🦹♂️Workplaces could benefit from Neurodiversity Champions, who can be a driving force for organisational culture and Inclusion. I will apply many more ideas, research-backed statistics, and case studies to my future work. However, the most important thing you and I can do is be empathetic and respectful to each other, as many individuals do not disclose or are afraid to disclose their conditions. Note: The language used within the post may not be someone's preference, as definitions and individual preferences are evolving. I am open to hearing your thoughts.
The questions were flowing for all our speakers' sessions this afternoon and continued into our third Q&A panel of the day from our speakers Catherine Leggett, 💯Hayley Brackley and Sean Riley CPsychol AFBPsS #IPDEvents #neurodiversity #conference

For those individuals and organizations that want to engage in the topic of ending child sexual abuse in Utah, this is the symposium to attend: SAFE Symposium Update Breakfast (April 10, 8-10:30am): https://lnkd.in/gnERsjFz. We greatly appreciate the work of The Policy Project and the important legislation that was passed, AND there is still so much more work to do. Public policy is one important piece of the puzzle. When 1 in 7 kids in Utah are sexually abused, we must hit this issue on all fronts and in a variety of way to really move the needle. The 3 spoke leader organizations (Saprea, Prevent Child Abuse Utah, Malouf Foundation) are powerful partners in A Bolder Way Forward! Join us next week to move things to the next level so Utah kids are safer in Utah! #bwfutah Utah Women & Leadership Project Utah State University State of Utah

Hospitality is not a universal term. Geographically, demographically, culturally, hospitality can mean something different to different people. Our success comes from our ability to listen; to your team and your residents. Then we can take all of our expertise and resources and create the program that fits for your community. How can we elevate your resident experience? #cclhospitalitygroup

Thankful to be a regular on our local New segment, Community Conversations. Last week we briefly discussed exercise and more specifically getting back into one’s routine. Whether you are an experienced athlete, just starting off, or somewhere in between, a lifetime of physical activity is crucial to living a long and healthy life. Although we did not dive into the data, it is remarkable how incredibly impactful exercise is on one’s health. Please make it part of your daily routine! https://lnkd.in/eW-_awz9

#neurodiversity isn’t enough to consider when learning who you are. It’s a big, big piece - but it’s not the whole puzzle. I founded ‘the norm’ whilst thinking about Neurodiversity as a significant factor within the approach. But, there is more to who we are and how we can thrive. There are other pieces that I am going to share. We need to build a lifestyle and meaningful connections based over and above how we are wired. We need to think about our life stage and the resilience (and therefore power) we have. I’m building the norm in public, and these snippets of what it is and what it stands for is only just the beginning. Follow @feel_the_norm to be part of our community and be part of the movement. https://lnkd.in/eJpBTjDq
the norm on Instagram: "One of the fundamental principles of the norm is embracing the normality of how we are all wired very individually. Dr Jo Carlile, founder worked within the NHS before starting her own practice and creating the norm"
