Who's got Olympic fever?! 🤩 What did you want to be growing up? For me, I wanted to be an Olympic Gymnast! I did gymnastics growing up, but I was terrible at it! 😅 In many aspects of life, success is a combination of various elements: skill, talent, drive, support, and luck. While these factors can improve the chances of success, nothing can guarantee it. It goes without saying that all Olympic athletes deserve recognition for their incredible sacrifices and hard work. Those with less skill or talent will work harder to improve an area of weakness. Some athletes may have more drive, some less, some will receive greater support than others from people and financial resources. And then there's luck because I don't believe the difference between a 1st place and a 2nd place finish is just about who deserves it more alone, or who has worked more, or has more skill, talent, drive, and support. At competition time, many elements are out of an athlete’s control, and that’s where luck comes in. This is true in both sports and finance, where a certain level of luck influences our outcomes. Simone Biles, arguably the best gymnast of all time, dropped out of the last Olympics due to a case of “the twisties.” That was bad luck, not a lack of skill, talent, or drive, and a choice she made to prioritize her health and safety in an unpredictable situation. Similarly, unexpected events like COVID, job loss, or a market crash, let's say just before one retires, are also examples of bad luck. These are things no one can predict or control. In the end, recognizing the role of luck doesn’t diminish our efforts or achievements. Instead, it reminds us to be kind to ourselves and others, knowing we all face elements beyond our control. Keep striving, keep working hard, and remember that every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory worth celebrating. #2024olympics #olympicfever #womenandwealth #personalfinance #healthiswealth

Like you I wanted to be in the Olympics. My sport was ice skating. I skated from when I was 6 til I was 16. But life had other plans. Sidetrack, lol. I have been glued to my seat watching the Olympics and have loved seeing all these other sports like water polo and rugby who have work just as hard as any other athlete at the Olympics get some love and support too. Hard work is so important and sometimes winning is just not in the cards.

I am wildly impressed. I would tear an ab muscle if I tried to dust off my own gymnastics skills.

Seeing you just do a double back flip, you are far from 'terrible' at it! :Loved watching and hearing you story. I agree with everything you said, and similarly, I like to remind my job seeking clients that as long as every step they are taking is putting them closer to their goal (no matter how small or 'insignificant it may feel in the moment), they are headed in the right direction. :)

Carol Cho, CLU®, ChFC®, BFA™ It's amazing how the Olympics inspire us to dream big. As someone who aspired to be an Olympic gymnast, I totally get the passion and drive it takes to pursue such dreams, even if we don't always reach them. Your point about the mix of skill, talent, drive, support, and luck is spot on. Olympic athletes embody the pinnacle of hard work and dedication, and they truly deserve all the recognition for their sacrifices. Great video!

Awesome routine, Carol Cho, CLU®, ChFC®, BFA™! And, I don't think we can say enough about Simone Biles, who is inspirational as an athlete and also as someone who so openly and positively dealt with her mental health challenge. Based on her performance in the team event this Olympics, she has overcome another obstacle in her life and career.

100% agree! Also, I love this and I think we would all like more footage!!! 🥇 Apparently, archery is easiest to qualify for, so we could explore that 🤔 haha. Fun fact: I wanted to be a marine biologist when I grew up, but seems more fitting I took the marketing route (given dark waters terrify me!) 😄

While you may not be Olympic-qualified, your flexibility and skill are admirable, Carol Cho, CLU®, ChFC®, BFA™. I enjoyed doing this as a child but never got good at it.
