🌟 Spotlighting Community Impact in Gladstone! 🌟 Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is proud to support Queensland’s renewable energy future through strategic partnerships like our collaboration with ACCIONA Energy. Their 380MW Aldoga Solar Farm is being developed on EDQ-owned land through a 30-year lease, repurposing underutilised land to drive economic growth, create jobs, and support Queensland’s renewable energy targets. This $500M flagship renewable energy project will contribute to Queensland’s 50% renewable energy target by 2030 and avoid 934,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions in the process. But it’s not just about energy. Since 2002, Acciona Energia’s Small Grants Program has invested over $4.1 million into local communities. This year, they’ve strengthened their commitment to Gladstone by supporting 12 local organisations, driving impactful projects in health, education, sustainability, and cultural development. At EDQ, we are proud to prioritise partnerships that deliver long-term social, economic, and environmental outcomes. This partnership is a prime example of how strategic collaborations can unlock opportunities for communities and contribute to Queensland’s sustainable growth. Stefano Pieroni, Business Development Director for Starlight in Italy spoke with NPM Europe (New Project Media) this month to explore the new regulatory frameworks and recent government decrees affecting renewable energy development in the region.   The Italian government has introduced new criteria for renewable energy projects and imposed restrictions on large-scale solar developments on agricultural land, aiming to balance environmental conservation with ambitious renewable energy targets.   Despite these changes, Starlight is well-positioned to continue its growth in the sector. Starlight’s strategic focus on agrivoltaics aligns perfectly with the new regulations, minimising any potential impact on new projects. Additionally, the recent acquisition of Entrope has expanded Starlight’s team to over 50 professionals, significantly enhancing development capabilities. Congratulations Team Bute! Mid-morning I was feeling pretty low after being given the "good news" of injured LCL, ruptured ACL, and torn meniscus (as with my work I give everything my best shot!). But whenI saw this, which resonates on several levels, I genuinely perked up. 1. Since the Mid Wales Connection was "pickled" way back when, when I was client-side pursuing large WF's in Wales, the cry has been "there's no grid [capacity] in Wales", leading to >1.2GW of stranded, consented, onshore generation. Step forward Bute with a self-help "lets build ourselves out of the problem" solution. 2. During (when it was a secret), and after (when it was public knowledge), our Technical Due Diligence #TDD of this portfolio, we had some choice views aired about these "new kids on the block". It just goes to show that "fortune favours the brave, Rodney" and it's seldom wasted effort to bring a fresh pair of eyes to an old problem. 3. Lastly, this is probably our busiest year to date of TDD projects, despite a reported 25% fewer projects coming to the market. But it's been hard to extract job satisfaction - We know it's not spin to say that project success for a TDD exercise doesn't have to play out with a successful transaction close: Highlighting problems that can't be overcome whilst delivering an acceptable sale value prevents our clients from wasting money on schemes that won't be delivered. But it's hard seeing deal after deal fall through. So it's bloody marvellous to see "one of our babies" get consented, whilst recognising there are a few steps to go for it to become operational. Now ITPEnergised (part of SLR) are part of SLR Consulting, joined by Wardell Armstrong LLP (part of SLR), we're even better placed to help take these type of projects forward, from feasibility through to operations (and repowering). ☀ Exciting News! Last night's Town of Middletown, DE monthly meeting marked a pivotal moment as council voted to advance the 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 project! This groundbreaking initiative entails the construction of a 3-megawatt solar array, ingeniously floating atop one of the town's wastewater ponds. This project is also set to become Delaware's inaugural floating solar endeavor. We're thrilled to share that DEMEC has 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮 $𝟭𝟮𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 from the American Public Power Association (APPA), propelling us forward in our mission towards sustainable energy solutions. The benefits of this innovative project are abundant. Not only does it preserve valuable town real estate for future economic development, but it also tackles algae growth on the pond, enhancing environmental sustainability. Moreover, by bolstering the amount of locally sited community solar, DEMEC and our members are paving the way for a brighter, cleaner energy future right here in Delaware. The journey towards a level playing field for the clean tech manufacturing industry in Europe just took a leap forward with the adoption of the Net Zero Industry Act (#NZIA) by the European Parliament. We're glad to share that the long-awaited regulation has finally been adopted, marking an end to an important policy development and paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient industrial landscape. “We welcome the resilience and sustainability criteria in the adopted Net-Zero Industry Act. This gives a green light for procurement of sustainable European made solar panels and is clear direction towards resilient supply. We urge the Member States to start buying as from now, and not waiting for the time thresholds in the regulation, says Zygimantas Vaiciunas policy Director at the European Solar Manufacturing Council (ESMC). Regional REIT Announces Joint Venture with Sunbird Solar to Power a Greener Future. We're excited to share our latest sustainability milestone!
