🎉 I'm excited to share that BPIE's #HealthyBuildingsBarometer is out today! 🤓 I read all of our reports (no small feat!) and I have to say I learned a lot, and was deeply inspired. The #health narrative, in my view, is underused in the buildings policy world - but I believe it's one that can convince even the most obstinate of renovation / decarbonisation naysayers. 🏘 The fact is that #buildings can have a huge impact on human mental and physical health and #wellbeing and the socioeconomic benefits can be enormous: 🏢 Renovating public buildings according to specific health criteria brings an average 11.5% return on investment, plus a 30% reduction in climate impact. (But really - read the report for many more stats on the potential socioeconomic benefits of prioritising health in buildings, can't list them all in a Linkedin post!). And - this is the ❗ first piece of work ❗ that provides: 1️⃣ a clear framework that defines what a healthy building should look like 2️⃣ a clear vision of a future where are all buildings are healthy, and 3️⃣ an actionable roadmap starting from now until 2050. Bravo to my brilliant colleagues at BPIE - Buildings Performance Institute Europe who worked tirelessly on pulling this off, and VELUX for their support and trust.
