Red Bull gives you wings, aka when F1 meets WorldTour This weekend GCN reported that the new Red Bull Bora HansGrohe kit for the Tour de France has been leaked. The navy design is very much similar to that sported by the Red Bull F1 team. The team will become Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe just before Tour de France, with the new kit probably seeing the light of day during the Grand Depart. What's more important, I think, is the fact that Red Bull's infusion of capital into the team may bring Bora-Hansgrohe's budget to the level of UAE and Visma | Lease-a-bike. What does that mean? I would imagine that in the next year or two the team may have enough financial freedom to invest heavily into buying and developing even better riders. The net effect should be simple: more competition, which should translate to more exciting races. I feel like the kit could be a bit flashier. The current one is very distinctive, while this one is just standard. But that's just my personal opinion. ⁉️Do you like the kit? And Red Bull's involvement will this change cycling?⁉️⁉️ #cycling #sponsorship #changes #design

I have been monitoring the growth of T30 with great interest and believe that, in addition to technical innovations, the introduction of distinctive apparel would serve to enhance the visual identity of this discipline. As is the case with skiing and cycling, where new forms of equipment influence the perception of the sport, T30 could benefit from a distinctive and well-designed aesthetic. The introduction of a dedicated line of apparel would not only emphasise the dynamic nature of this sport but also assist in raising awareness and attracting new participants. It will be interesting to observe the subsequent developments in this promising journey for T30.

New Post: Hank keen for Prescient Freedom Paddle - https://lnkd.in/drr86r4i CAPE TOWN - There can be no doubt defending champion Hank McGregor is looking forward to the 2024 Prescient Freedom Paddle surfski race on April 27th. The multiple World Canoeing Champion was the first paddler to submit his entry and he is definitely looking forward to defending the title he won convincingly with Josh Fenn in 2023. "I think I was the first entry for the Prescient Freedom Paddle this year," said McGregor with a chuckle. "I just happened to be online when the entries opened, so I entered quickly. "I'm doing it again with Josh. It is just a race we always do together as mates, so I am really looking forward to it. We have won it a couple times together and it's such a great race. "I think it's just going to become even bigger every year. It is unique in South Africa to be paddling on Freedom Day around Robben Island. That is pretty cool to experience for every paddler, never mind just the winners. "I think especially for the older era of athletes it's great to do that particular paddle on that historic day. I think maybe the new generation doesn't feel it as much, but for the older guys who know and remember what Freedom Day is all about, I think it is really cool. A lot of people pay to take a tour to see the island, and we get to paddle around it." From a surfski racing perspective, McGregor enjoys the somewhat different challenge the event throws up. "From a paddlers point of view it is different. You know that if the wind is blowing you will get a headwind as much as a downwind. Compared to so many of the modern races that have just become downwind orientated, this is one of those races where you know you're going to have to tough it out for one leg." The veteran, who shows no signs of slowing down as he remains competitive in his 40s, has some advice for younger, less experienced paddlers at the popular annual event. "Most of the pictures are shown for the race with big waves breaking around the wild side of Robben Island, and so many people are a little bit nervous of this open-ocean event. But novices do not have to take the fine line around Robben Island. If they just go a bit wider around the island then nothing is going to break out there, so its safe. "... and of course, it is just a fantastic experience to paddle around Robben Island," he added. Before McGregor defends his title at the Prescient Freedom Paddle he also has decided to have a go at one of the rare elite paddling events he has not been able to win, the Olympic Games. McGregor will be teaming up with Uli Hart at the South African Sprint Canoe Championships later this month, and he is hoping they can win the 500m K2 event which doubles as the trial for the Olympic team. "I don't really know how we will do to be honest. I remember sprinting and winning South African Sprint Champs and stuff, but that was twenty years ago.

Visma-Lease a Bike is already dominating… Is this a misfire or a taste of what we may expect from this season? If you've been watching the news in the past days, you can't help but notice that the finishing line pics were dominated by the characteristic yellow jerseys of Visma-Lease a Bike. On Saturday Jan Tratnik won the Omloop Het Neiuwsblad. On Sunday Wout van Aert took the Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne. On Sunday Jonas Vingegaard won the O Gran Camiño, claiming the points and mountains jerseys as well. Clearly they began their spring classics campaign on a strong note. But those aren't really the big-name races. Those are still ahead of us. Can they deliver wins there too? It's hard to say, the competition at the really big races is going to be stiffer, including the likes of Tadej Pogacar and Mathieu van der Poel. Not to mention others. But truth be told, I don't think that those wins are key for them. For Vingegaard those are mostly training races for his Grand Tour campaign. Wout would certainly like to have some classics under his belt, though. Last year the Dutch team dominated the Grand Tours. Can they repeat the feat this year? Not if Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenpoel have anything to say. Tadej Pogacar is going to race the Giro and TdF, which begs the question if he's going to have the legs for TdF. That's a big question. Let's not forget that this is an Olympic year. And we have the World Championships in Switzerland. For some of the riders those will also be important points in the calendar. I know I've raised more questions than I've answered. But the key takeaway from this should be this: it's going to be a really exciting 2024 season! ⁉️Let me know your thoughts: Any particular race you can't wait for?⁉️ #cycling #season2024 #questions #excitingtimes

#Sprintracing, often referred to simply as "sprints," involves high-speed, short-distance races in various sports. Here are some common types of sprint racing events across different sports: Athletics 100 meters: The shortest sprint race, typically lasting around 10 seconds for elite athletes. 200 meters: Requires a balance of speed and endurance, often run on a curve. 400 meters: One full lap around the standard outdoor track, combining speed with greater endurance than shorter sprints. Cycling #TrackCyclingSprints: Short-distance races held on a velodrome, including individual sprints, team sprints, and keirin events. #RoadCyclingSprints: Often occur at the end of stages in multi-stage races like the Tour de France, where riders sprint to the finish line. #Motorsports Formula 1 #SprintRaces: Introduced to provide additional excitement and points, these races are shorter than the main Grand Prix. These events are characterized by their high intensity and require athletes to exhibit explosive power, speed, and often a strategic approach to pacing and positioning.
