📹 We're excited and proud to present this video to you which allows you to better understand the practical applications of the newclim project! In June, 16 PhD and Master’s students from the four partner universities of the Newclim project gathered at the SLU Alnarp campus in Sweden to participate in a seminar aimed at developing Challenge-Based Learning activities. The participating universities are L'Institut Agro (France), SLU - Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden), Hochschule Ludwigshafen - Weincampus Neustadt (Germany), and the Universidad de Chile (UCHILE) (Chile). The context of Swedish apple and wine production was explored through farm visits, meetings with farmers, and participation in an agricultural fair for professional growers. A central topic emerged from these discussions: the exploration of new regions of culture for the vine 🍇 and the apple 🍏 at higher latitudes in colder regions. This first Newclim seminar set the first step in the construction of the CBL’s (engagement step). https://lnkd.in/estf9QBd #erasmus+ #wine #apple

"Every compelling idea invites its own devil's advocate. To challenge the theme of the TEDxISB event, the theories of feedback loops are introduced. These oftentimes overlooked ideas in the realm of causality and system dynamics are an integral part of the discussion". Our very dedicated Science Teacher and Martial Artist, Mr. Gareth Avenell, urged listeners to redefine theories typically used in ecology and apply them to their lives. #TEDxISB #ButterflyEffect #ISBTeachers #ILoveISB https://lnkd.in/dstvkPk6

Seven Insights from the CITANDA Digital Risks and Networking Event I had the pleasure of attending the CITANDA Digital Risks and Networking Event recently, and it was an eye-opener regarding how rapidly the cybersecurity landscape is evolving—especially with AI at the forefront. Some key takeaways: 1. Cybersecurity now requires balancing physical risks (e.g., hardware environmental obsolescence) with growing cyber threats like ransomware, phishing, DOS and deep fakes. 2. Ethical hacking and cybercrime insurance are crucial in protecting business assets. 3. In the Global South, system designs often don’t match local social realities, leaving economies vulnerable to digital threats. 4. Promoting social safety and improving digital literacy are vital for marginalized communities to thrive in the digital age. 5. Tools like Julius AI and Jenni AI make research and writing more efficient, seeing that researchers need to evolve their dependence on computational activities with more cybersecurities. 6. The most critical takeaway? There’s a real risk-benefit divide between those who embrace AI and other advanced technologies safely and those who don’t. 7. As interdependencies grow, so do the risks—adaptation is key to staying ahead. #Cybersecurity #AI #CITANDA #DigitalTransformation #InformationSystems #Africa
That's a wrap. CITANDA, our research unit, from the IS department at the University of Cape Town, recently hosted a thought-provoking online event featuring a panel of distinguished IS scholars— A/Prof Adheesh Budree, Prof @H.R. Rao, Prof @Rahul Dé, and Prof P.J. Wall. The discussion centred around the pervasive nature of digital risk and the complexities involved in sharing solutions across different global contexts. Breakout rooms were also organised, allowing participants to engage in more focused discussions with the panel members on various topics of interest. Key Takeaways: - Digital risk is everywhere, with those intent on doing harm to organisations and society becoming increasingly sophisticated in the techniques they use. - Sharing solutions to digital risk between the Global North and Global South is complicated by the essential need to incorporate context for solutions to be effective. Thank you to all of the participants, panel members and the organising team at CITANDA.
