We discovered that people described themselves as either: 1. Knowing their numbers and where they are financially 2. Not knowing their numbers or where they are financially For the next chunk of episodes, we’ll be unpacking the various emotions and trauma themes we have encountered within our observations over the past few years. We recommend that you go through the episodes and listen to the ones you believe apply to you. We have begun by discussing “I don’t know my numbers and ... *insert topic*”. We will carry the theme for the next five episodes. Some of the themes include: fear, avoidance, what happens if I lose or fail, shame, guilt, and domestic violence and abuse, with the overarching theme of trauma. Megan and I are big advocates for getting collaborative support for BOTH your mental health and your financial health journey. As you listen, we recommend you pay attention to yourself, your reactions emotionally, and reach out to either a mental health professional and/or a financial professional to help you to heal your relationship with money. https://lnkd.in/gDYX-wge

I am not safe Episode 2 of 'Pop-up with Mandi' for Hoarding Awareness Week 2024 that also perfectly fits for Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. This episode is about changing that limiting belief of 'I am not safe' There are so many instances when we don't feel safe through life. For many, during or following life events, this core belief sticks and then life doesn't feel safe. Trying to keep positive, have clarity, grow, move forward or just deal with the day to day stuff with this core belief lurking means you are using way too much energy. Join me and Mandi Simms as we do 'The Words' from Mind Your Mind that instructs your superfast subconscious mind to release the old stuff that got stuck. You keep the wisdom from those life events without having to keep the belief. #HAW24 #nomindleftbehind #mentalhealth #wellbeing #help #corebeliefs #safe #Mind https://lnkd.in/g8WHSfmA

Mental health Well-being: Can physical health problems be separated from mental health illness? This is a question that many of us may have wondered about. Another question that may arise is if changing our diet due to a physical health problem, such as a gluten-free diet, can affect our mental health as well. If you are interested in exploring these questions, I highly recommend watching this video. It's a well-done piece that delves into the connection between diet, well-being and quality of life. Being a Good Mental Health First Aider! Active listening and non-judgmental listening are crucial components of effective mental health first aid. It's important to listen to understand rather than to respond. Here are three signs that you might not be a good listener: 1. Finishing Other People's Sentences: Interrupting someone to finish their thoughts can make them feel unheard. 2. Jumping in Mid-Sentence: Cutting someone off while they're speaking disrupts their train of thought and shows impatience. 3. Formulating a Response While Listening: If you're thinking about what to say next instead of fully listening, you're not giving the speaker your full attention. These behaviours can hinder your ability to connect with others and provide meaningful support. In mental health first aid, it's important to avoid forming judgments about the people you're speaking with, as this can also interfere with effective communication. Mental Health First Aid Tip: Practice listening to understand, not to respond. This approach can help you better connect with and support others. Here's a helpful video to better understand active and attentive listening https://lnkd.in/et2XEHsz #MentalHealthFirstAid #MHFAEngland #ActiveListening #NonJudgmentalListening #ListenToUnderstand

Struggling with the Downside of Motivational Quotes? Listen to My Insights from ABC Radio with Jess Ong. Have you ever felt worse after reading a motivational quote? Many do, especially when battling mental health challenges. Positive affirmations can feel like empty words to those who struggle with self-worth, and 'good vibes only' messages may dismiss valid negative emotions. Last week on ABC Radio, I discussed how these well-intentioned messages can sometimes miss the mark, potentially causing more harm than good. Take a listen to our conversation, starting around the 1:44:59 mark, here - https://lnkd.in/gAEZb57m, as we explore practical ways to support mental well-being without falling into the pitfalls of toxic positivity. Let's be mindful of the impact of our words. Supporting each other means offering genuine understanding and validation, not just quick fixes. #MentalHealth #SelfCompassion #MotivationalQuotes #ABC #RadioTalk
