Building off of yesterday’s theme of assessment and giving feedback, today’s nugget coming in at #7 is…Measure & Reward Performance – If you cannot measure it, you cannot manage it. If you cannot manage it, you cannot measure it. Whatever gets measured, gets managed. And, if it makes sense in your organization to offer rewards for those who go above and beyond, do it. Find subtle ways and creative ways to offer those folks a gesture of your appreciation. It builds trust, and teaches them what you as a leader value. Personalize your rewards whenever you can. If the person earning the reward has an interest or hobby, a gift card that speaks to that one thing they really enjoy goes so much farther than a gift card to a donut shop…unless of course, they love that donut shop. ;)-

I wish I had one of those ridiculously giant check to hand over just for the effect, but I will say the random name generator wheel did spit out digital confetti *and* clap for dramatic effect.
