A small flurry of excitement in the business today having done our Grand National sweepstake. I think a 12/1 pick is potentially in with a shot, not so sure about the 80/1 pick though. 🏇🐎 It got us thinking, unlikely as it might seem, there are many similarities between the Grand National and precision engineering. In both of them, every detail matters, they both demand flawless execution, split second timing and unwavering focus. And most importantly, precision is absolutely essential! Stunning The Day the Balloons Came Back by US Air Force: After winning STAPEL Challenge. (The STAPEL challenge aimed to identify capabilities for a low-cost, air and/or ground launched medium- to high-altitude balloon capable of carrying payloads of at least 10 pounds. The solutions also needed to be able to be rapidly launched by one to two people.) Urban Sky Theory Inc., Denver, Colorado, was awarded a $99,000,000 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for Urban Sky operations. This contract provides for the manufacturing of micro-balloons. Work will be performed in Denver, Colorado, and is expected to be completed by November 2030. This contract was a sole source acquisition under Small Business Innovation Research Phase III. Fiscal 2024 research, development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $1,500 are being obligated at the time of award. The Air Force Research Lab Enterprise Contracting Branch, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity (FA2280-25-D-0002). https://lnkd.in/daSWvKWR
