We made the list! We are honored that our Re-Wine program has been recognized by Fast Company for the 2024 Innovation by Design Award. Did you know the world uses 32 billion single-use bottles to service the wine world annually, most of which does not get recycled. At City Winery, we are committed to doing things differently. By serving 80% of our wine by the glass through our unique tap system and the other 20% in bottles, we're making strides in sustainability. Over the past two years, we have planted 40,000 trees offsetting 200 tons of carbon emissions from grape transportation. How does it work? 1️⃣ Buy a bottle of wine in our custom reusable growler from your favorite City Winery location. 2️⃣ Return the growler to any City Winery location nationwide. 3️⃣ Refill with your favorite wine and receive a $5 reward per bottle. It’s time to Re-Wine! 🌱🍇 What steps are you taking towards sustainability?

Liber Pater, The Most Expensive Wine in The World... Sustainability. I recently had the opportunity to speak with Loic Pasquet, the visionary behind Liber Pater, the most exclusive and expensive wine on the globe. This encounter was particularly meaningful as I spearheaded sustainable innovations in Mexico's promising wine sector, drawing inspiration from Loic's groundbreaking approach. I inquired how his Liber Pater wine ascended to global fame, working with a unique team: a Spanish Mule, a French donkey, a pair of horses, and five collaborators. Loic's reply was disarmingly straightforward: a genuine desire to resurrect the authentic flavors of Bordeaux wines from Napoleon's era. His method? Utterly unconventional. He uses indigenous vines that thrive on their ungrafted roots, embracing grape varieties that have fallen out of favor with Bordeaux AOC regulations yet symbolizing the essence of Bordeaux's winemaking heritage. Loic's winemaking philosophy mirrors the core of sustainability and ESG principles: embracing local materials that thrive in their environment and form a cornerstone of community heritage. His preference for indigenous plants is a testimony to efficiency and ecological harmony, utilizing fewer resources and preserving the natural landscape untouched. This approach exemplifies how traditional practices can lead the way in sustainable innovation. There is so much to learn from Loic. #esg #sdg #sustainability #wine #bordeaux #familyoffice #efficiency

🍇 Yesterday, while enjoying the serene atmosphere at Heuriger Sissi Huber (1160 Vienna), I had an intriguing idea for a post that draws parallels between two seemingly distinct fields: vineyards and investments. 🌿 What Do Vineyards and Investments Have in Common? 📈💼 1. Long-term Perspective ⏳: Patience is key to reaping quality grapes and attractive returns. 2. Continuous Care 🌱: Both require regular care and management—vines need pruning and protection, investments need constant monitoring and adjustments. 3. Risks and Rewards ⚖️: Both come with risks that must be well-managed to achieve high returns. 4. Quality Over Quantity 🏅: Focus on quality results in better wines and more stable investments. 5. Diversification 🌐: Winemakers diversify grape varieties, and investors diversify their portfolios to minimize risk. Both fields require understanding, strategic management, and patience for long-term success. 🍷📊 #InvestmentTips #Wine #Finance #LongTerm #Diversification #Quality #RiskManagement

Experts suggest that within the typical 30-year lifespan of a vineyard, many regions will become too warm for luxury wine production from certain Bordeaux varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon. This is due to predicted temperature rises of 3.3°C by 2060, shifting Napa's climate from "warm" to "hot," beyond the ideal range for this grape. At Farmland LP, we're proactively navigating these changes, ensuring our land acquisitions, viticulture practices, and crop selections are resilient and sustainable, preserving our terroir, and securing our investment. Great coverage of this issue in this article from WineBusiness: https://lnkd.in/gp-td-yw
