Check out the article on the clinical trials!
🔬 Accelerating Clinical Trials with AI: A Comprehensive Analysis Clinical trials have traditionally been constrained by manual, error-prone, labor-intensive, and costly procedures, consuming a substantial portion of the 10-12 years it takes a drug to move from a lab to the pharmacy shelf. 🌟The adoption of Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming the landscape of clinical trials, offering new capabilities to improve efficiency and optimize processes. In this article, Dan Piekarz and Andrey Sorokin unveil the game-changing role of AI applications in transforming clinical trials. 📊 From trial protocol design to patient recruitment, informed consent, data collection and analysis, safety monitoring, and regulatory compliance, AI offers unprecedented capabilities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. With the ongoing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, the question of regulation is, well, an important one. David Blumenthal and Bakul Patel suggest a unique perspective on how to oversee the use of generative AI models in medical decision-making. Rather than Food and Drug Administration (FDA) oversight, they propose a role for an agency familiar with clinician licensing in ensuring AI outputs align with medical standards. As an example, if a special license was granted by a state medical board to an AI model, the agency could intervene when output was determined to be flawed and either remove a license or provide guidance to get the model back on track. Is this too novel a solution? #AIinMedicine

Is your role becoming more involved with AI? If so you should be at this session to familiarise yourself with what the EU AI act has to say.
Explore the scope of the EU AI Act at the 3rd Annual ACDM Symposium on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Clinical Trials....... The ACDM: Association for Clinical Data Management is delighted to announce that Dr. Pascal Hofer of Roche will present the session “EU AI Act - Innovation or Overregulation?” at the AI Symposium. Pascal said “As part of its digital strategy, the EU wants to regulate Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure better conditions for the development and use of this innovative technology. AI can create many benefits, such as better healthcare; safer and cleaner transport; more efficient manufacturing; and cheaper and more sustainable energy. In April 2021, the European Commission proposed the first EU regulatory framework for AI. It says that AI systems that can be used in different applications are analysed and classified according to the risk they pose to users. The different risk levels will mean more or less regulation.” This presentation will look at the background for the AI Act and summarise key components in a nutshell. It will also explore the scope and risk categories, as well as share a use case for AI-based software in a clinical trial scenario. The AI Symposium will take place from 24-25 June 2024 in Basel, Switzerland.
