This turned out to be a great session highlighting the importance of building urban-water resilience with key lessons at all levels being shared by the panel: - urban resilience is built inside the city and within the basin it is situated. - a very significant part of the urban population lives in informal settlements. They are most affected by climate change and least likely to benefit from resilience building measures. - at least 60% of the city is privately owned. Private sector is key to successful resilience building.

It's all start at Home: How can we localize 10 actions from #WUF12 Cairo to our local cities? Let's evaluate ourselves: Which actions are you putting in the place at your local level? 1. We call for urgent action to address the global housing crisis 2. We call for achieving global goals through local action 3. We call for sustaining a systemic representation of local actors at all levels 4. We call for sharing urban spaces and opportunities inclusively 5. We call for urban planning to deliver better local outcomes 6. We call for unlocking finance for cities and communities 7. We call for ensuring equity and justice for sustainable cities 8. We call for leveraging local and grassroots data for decision-making 9. We call for harnessing culture and heritage as an asset for sustainability 10. We call for building coalitions and alliances to scale local impact

💰🌱Curious about means to unlock finance for resilient cities, here what I have to say with regards to this matter. This is an extract from my participation to the World Urban Forum (#WUF12). This parricular session was titled "Unlocking Finance for Resilient Cities". 💫 As Morocco 🇲🇦 is celebrating the 49th anniversary of the Green Marche 💚 that marked the full moroccan independence, this was also an opportunity to underline Morocco's approach to regionalization and decentralization, a process that started with its southern provinces in its Sahara 🫱🏽🫲🏻. I had the pleasure to be alongside esteemed colleagues and experts in sustainable urban finance. Moderated by Maria Camila Uribe from the Inter-American Development Bank, the panel brought together diverse perspectives from around the globe, with insights from Lin O'Grady (EBRD), Christel Bourbon-Séclet (C40 Cities), Camila Mileke Scucato (Paranacidade, Brazil), and Mykola Vavryshchuk (Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine). 🫱🏽🫲🏻 💡It was inspiring to engage in discussions around financing strategies that can drive resilience and sustainability for our cities. The Cabinet's مركز المعلومات ودعم اتخاذ القرار بمجلس الوزراء - Information and Decision Support Center IDSC highlighted Egypt's collaboration with the EBRD under the Green Cities Program to transform 6th of October City into a green, low-carbon, and sustainable city. The initiative, part of a 2022–2026 joint strategy, aligns with national goals for inclusive growth and green transformation. The city’s Green City Action Plan identifies 14 key projects and 17 initiatives addressing infrastructure and environmental challenges.
