📢 Announcement! 📢 We are excited to share that our research proposal on "Exploring the Intersection of Climate and Feminist Funding through CSR Frameworks in Emerging Market Economies", developed by our very own founders Beatrice Maneshi and Aviva Stein, together with Aditi Mukund of the Women In International Relations Network (WIRN) and Leonida Odongo, has been selected out of 123 proposals by the #WalkingTheTalk Consortium, composed of Restless Development, Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, Equipop and Hivos! As part of the call for papers for the upcoming "Financing for Feminist Futures" conference, we will be examining how feminist organizations and climate justice movements can better align and cooperate to access public and private funding in countries with emerging markets such as Kenya and India as part of regulations to promote fair, just, and sustainable futures for all. Watch this space for insights, trends, and intersectional feminist advocacy! #GenderEquality #FeministFunding #Research #ClimateAction #Sustainability #CSR #FloraFaunaAndFeminists #ClimateJusticeIsGenderjustice

It's bittersweet to hold the result of my work! During my recent journey working in the Office of Intergovernmental Support and Coordination for Sustainable Development in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA), I actively supported the drafting of the report titled "The Role of #UN in Promoting Development in the Context of Globalization and Interdependence" from the very beginning. This report draws on various fields, including the new challenges of globalization as we face a rise in armed conflicts worldwide, global wealth loss due to illicit financial flows, the challenges of climate change (which urgently required the involvement of Indigenous Communities to address adaptation processes), gender inequality, the ethics of artificial intelligence, and more. Our recommendations emphasize the need to reposition the multilateral governance framework to address these rapid social, political, and economic changes and to facilitate conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and the reduction of inequality gaps. Special thanks to Tonya Vaturi for her guidance and trust in my work!

Climate adaptation requires a fair and inclusive approach that considers everyone's needs. 🌎 This includes integrating considerations of gender, equity, and justice. ⚤ The IPCC's latest report emphasizes this by dedicating more content to this topic than ever before. These findings were translated into a format that aimed to communicate it in ways that were compelling and easy to understand for a broad range of actors. Represented by Chikondi Chabvuta-Mkawa, Southern Africa Region Advocacy Advisor, CARE was a part of the project advisory group to finalize the publication of this material by the International Institute for Sustainable Development. 🔗 Check out the full document here: https://lnkd.in/gb4VsEt3 #ClimateAction #ClimateAdaptation #ClimateJustice

Over 120 women leaders will join together next week for the Asia Women and Rivers Congress! 🌊 Leaders from riverine and #Indigenous communities, civil society, and academia will share knowledge, discuss collaborative strategies to tackle water, energy and #ClimateChange challenges Learn more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ehP6aRt2 Spotlight on Asia: Water conflict in Asia has largely been between river developers and local communities adversely impacted by development projects. This is increased by the challenges of climate change. In spite of clear linkages between gender, water, energy, and climate change, women’s roles and leadership have not been a significant part of the discourse in #TransboundaryWater management. Women in Asia manage and disproportionately bear the negative impacts of water and energy provisioning fundamental to household and community sustenance needs. Although women have experience, ideas, and knowledge of how to manage these resources, their views are rarely sought at decision-making levels. Understanding the ways in which gender shapes policy over the sustainable management of our natural resources when faced with climate change and the differing needs and positions of women and men, is crucial to addressing poverty and ensuring sustainability. #WomenandRiversCongress #WomenandRivers #RiverGuardians #RiverDefenders #WomeninWaterGovernance #WaterIsLife #IndigenousRights #HumanRights #WomenRights #WomensRights #GenderEquity #WomenSupportingWomen #EnvironmentalJustice Open Development Cambodia Organization Oxfam Oxfam in Asia Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund Sida Synchronicity Earth Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH GIZ Thailand Simavi

I am happy to share my new publication co-authored with Dr. Debolina Kundu as an Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) publication (Revista Tempo do Mundo). In this article, we explore collaborative strategies for G20 nations to mitigate global inequalities, highlighting the historic commitment of G20 summits to these issues since the launch of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The article assesses individual progress among G20 members towards these shared goals and presents selected policies that have shown promise in combating poverty, hunger, and inequality. The article aims to provide insights into coordinated and effective action to address global disparities by identifying successful initiatives at the country level. Finally, it emphasizes that reducing inequalities is essential to promote social equality and foster sustainable economic and environmental practices worldwide. https://lnkd.in/gYRTBfPW #combatingpoverty #eradicatinghunger #reducinginequality #G20countries #sustainabledevelopment #ipea

👩🌾 Did you know women make up over 50% of the agricultural labor force in Sub-Saharan Africa but still face huge challenges? Their farms are often smaller and less productive, and they struggle to access essential resources. 💡 The Farm to Market Alliance, the Grameen Foundation and #TeamBayer are stepping in to support these women. By closing the gender gap in farm productivity, we could boost global GDP and help millions escape food insecurity. What changes would you like to see to support women in agriculture? Read more about these efforts here: https://lnkd.in/gd_vwWQa Read the full Global Solutions Initiative Journal below.

🌍 Reclaiming Investment Policies for People and the Planet 🌱 As the Civil Society Forum on "Aligning Investment Policy Frameworks to Climate and Sustainable Development Goals" concludes today (November 29, 2024), SEATINI UGANDA , Both ENDS , SOMO , Transnational Institute and ActionAid are hosting a press conference to share the Entebbe Declaration on "Reclaiming Investment Policies for People and the Planet" the outcome of four days of critical discussions. 🗣️ This declaration calls for urgent reform of international investment agreements (IIAs) to ensure that investment policies prioritize human rights, gender justice, climate action, and environmental sustainability. 🌿 As we face global challenges—from the climate crisis to growing inequality—investment must serve people and the planet, not just corporate profit. 🌏 🔑 Some of the Key Demands from the Entebbe Declaration: 🌎 Climate & Environmental Justice: Enforce sustainable investment aligned with global climate goals. ✊ Human Rights & Social Justice: Uphold labor rights, gender equality, and community-driven decisions. 💪 Economic Empowerment: Prioritize local value addition, technology transfer, and capacity building. ⚖️ End ISDS: Replace Investor-State Dispute Settlement with transparent, fair dispute resolution systems. #ClimateAction #SocialJustice #FairGreenGlobal #BothENDS #SOMO #TNI #SEATINI #CSOInvestmentForumUganda #sustainabledevelopment
